Philips Router
Advantages: good range, works with vista Disadvantages: disconnects itself, have to fiddle with it to get it to connect again
we bought this router to replace a bt voyager 105 adsl modem when we went onto the vista os we have 2 laptops and one desktop , the router is large which is a shame as most of it is just empty space, the router it self works pretty fine only problem is it disconnects from the internet which means you have to mess about getting it to connect again, another draw back was setting up a secure network if you get it wrong you have to reset it and it seemed ...

Philips Router
Advantages: Ease of installation Disadvantages: Poor authentication options, downloads fail.
...all over again.
The philips support site is OK, but the search facility is useless. I had to use Google to find what I was looking for on the philips website.
Overall, a nice looking bit of kit, but for more functionality within the same price range go for a Zyxel DSL / ADSL router which has the USB wireless dongle, more authentication types and excellent wireless coverage. Additionally you get a lot more useful tools for the more proficient user ...

ROUTER ALL EVIL! LATEST VERSION.
Advantages: No wires. Disadvantages: Only that you have to pay for it!
...is a review on the Philips SNK5600 networking starter kit, it contains all you need to go "wireless" As a technophobe, even I managed to get it installed, although I did require the help of the helpline, but that is what they are there for. The kit was purchased from PC World for a cost of £49.99 although it goes without saying that somewhere they will be cheaper.
This purchased for NTL broadband, it may not be suitable for other networks.
Commonly ... ...not too pleased with the Philips helpline, and am not happy with the security side at the moment. Will keep this updated. UPDATE:- I have now given up with this router, it has gone back to PC World (very helpful) I now have a different one, and may well do another review on it. The router I went for is the D-Link DWL-922 - I am about to atart a review on it now. The review has been viewed many times now, hope it helps someone. ...

A very annoying Philips product
Advantages: The router is good Disadvantages: TROJAN included with the CD, leds are annoyingly too bright
...provided with the router, simply unacceptable. Philips assistance phoned to reassure me that Philips does not put viruses in their CDs and that Kaspersky Antivirus must be wrong. To the owners of Kaspersky, please try and download the CD from Philips website... you will verify that this backdoor trojan is there also.
Very last annoying detail, the blue leds on the front of the router are so bright to make it impossible to face it. I first turned ...

A Very Long Name For Something That Just Sits There And Works!
Advantages: Highly configurable Disadvantages: That bloody light
The Netgear Rangemax Dual-band Wireless-N Router WNDR3300 – phew, there, I’ve said it. In reality, it’s a smart gloss black and silver slab about the size of a paperback with lots of pretty lights, the more of these that flash the cleverer you are – a maxim I’ve stuck by ever since dial-up modems!. What, you mean you want more? Give me strength – it’s only a bit of computer kit, get a grip. OK, OK, here goes. My existing Linksys wireless-g router ... ...of your wi-fi transmitter) from NETGEAR to something more meaningful to you. If you don’t, there’ll no doubt be someone out there who knows that if it’s still called NETGEAR, then it’s ‘10p to a bag of horse ordure’ that its logon\password is still ‘Admin’ and ‘Password’, the upshot of which is to give a stranger access to your wi-fi encryption, or worse still, lets them hi-jack it so you can’t even use it yourself! Of course, changing the latter ...
