Zoom Zoom Zoom Indeed!
Advantages: Quick and Easy installation Disadvantages: Low wireless range
...of all I must congratulate Zoom for such a fantastic product. Out of all my experiences with wireless/wired routers including; Netgear, Belkin and Linkysys (Cisco), I have found the Zoom X6 Wireless ADSL router to be the most user-friendly router I have ever used. In the box you will get; The wireless router, Power Lead, RJ5 cable (used to connect the router to a base unit in order to cingure the router softwar, once the software has been configured ... ...In terms of speed, the Zoom X6 is a 54MBps router, thus meaning it is capable of sending 54MB's of information every second, realisticly speaking you would be able to run 1-6 computers (performaing regular tasks, i.e. Browsing the internet *not movie downloading*) off this router without experiencing much loss in internet connection speed.
The only disadvantage of this particular router is the range, the range in doors is about 30 meteres, and about ...

Zoom around the internet in style!
Advantages: Small, and makes internet sharing as easy as pie Disadvantages: A bit expensive, no built-in hub, a bit ugly!
...charged me £80 for the Zoom X3. I'm sure it's available cheaper online.
--> WHAT IS A ROUTER?
Routers have been much more common in big business until broadband internet made its way into homes. Rather than the PC or Mac making the connection through the modem, a router connects by itself. This means that the router is always connected, even when the computer is off. This makes internet sharing easier, as each computer just talks to the router ... ...So where does the Zoom X3 fit in?
It has an ADSL modem built in, and one ethernet port. So you can connect directly, in the case of one computer, by plugging the router into your ethernet port (network card), or connect an ethernet hub to chain more computers through the one socket. If you wish, you can connect a wireless base station to the ethernet port at a later date.
So now you know a bit about the confusing world of routers and ADSL, let's ...

Great Wireless Router
Advantages: Quick speeds Disadvantages: Price
I have had this wireless router for a few months now and I think that it is amazing. To be honest only one of my laptops has Wireless-N enabled but the main selling point was the number of aerials. May be stupid but I needed high coverage throughout my house and the picture coupled with the information and the reviews I read lead me to believe that despite the price this wireless router was the one that I would require. Connectivity - Within 30 minutes ... ...is TalkTalk and please note that this version of the router does come with a modem and works with ASDL but not cable so please check your type of internet connection in advance. Speed - With wireless - N I easily achieve 108mbps and even when I am using wireless B/G I still get great speeds and coverage on my laptop and not a dead spot around. Overall this is a great wireless router but before I end this review please remember to use a decent level ...

Great Multimedia Wireless Router from Belkin
Advantages: Reliable, Fast, Easy to configure, Lots of features, USB for sharing drives Disadvantages: Bit expensive, Not full speed with every machine
INTRO The Belkin N+ router is one of the higher end (consumer) wireless modem router offerings from Belkin. It cost me £85 from PC World, but can probably be found for a bit less if you shop online. The Cable version costs a little less. Reason I bought this one was because two PCs in the house with wireless cards kept losing the wireless connection when I was using a Linksys router (my own PCs / laptops were fine though!). I replaced that with ... ...the performance of that cheaper Belkin router, I decided to stick with Belkin and get this one! DESIGN The router looks very stylish and stands up tall rather than laid down flat. It doesn’t appear to have been designed to be laid down flat like many other routers, which may be to maximise signal strength by standing it taller. It has two antenna sticking out at the top which can be adjusted and it’s got loads of LED lights which light up icons ...

Orange Livebox, how does it measure up.
Advantages: small and stylish Disadvantages: slow, unreliable.
Right, where to start. For a wireless router it is not really the best. I have had it about 6-7 months and to be honest I have used better but as it is part of my broadband service I don't have much choice.
It does work on the whole but it is not the most reliable one out there. It quite offten loses the will to live and will stop connecting to my laptop via wireless and the only way to sort it is to get the non UK call centre to sort it out.
On ...
