Rover 25
Advantages: Sporty, modern, good on fuel Disadvantages: Head gasket goes.
...this problem with both the rover i owned. Apart from this the car is amazing.
Its nippier than any other 1.4 i have driven. Its also very good on fuel, i get about 40 miles to the gallon driving along country roads. As long as you dont go over 4000 revs it does not seem to drink petrol. I would be looking for an mg zr for my next car as im so inpressed with this one. I would recomend this cars to anyone, as a first time car or as just a run about.

Rover 25GTi - wolf in sheep's clothing
Advantages: V.Quick, handling, 'Q' car looks, cheap to run Disadvantages: Depreciation, lack of image
...have been done by a Rover dealer (or specialist) as it's somewhat more complicated than on more ordinary engines. Check the coolant level, and look for signs of oil contamination in it, and also milky deposits in the engine oil - any of these may mean head-gasket problems (though these are fairly unlikely with correct maintenance).. Other than that, look for the normal signs of abuse on a hot hatch. ...

Advantages: Sporty but firm handling with excellent acceleration. Disadvantages: Fuel consumption, the Rover image, read below…
...it, finally settling on a Rover 25 1.6 16V iXL in silver – with black leather interior and more electrics that you can shake a stick at!
EXTERIOR
The Rover 25 shares the same chassis shape as the MG ZR, the only difference is that the ZR comes in a range of bright colours and the fuel consumption figures (estimated) are slightly lower. It has twin BMW style headlamps with colour code trim and bumpers with twin front fog lamps built into the front ... ...Parker Price Guide 2003 the Rover 25 is insurance group 7, which, in insurance terms, is quite reasonable. The fuel tank holds roughly 47 litres / 38kgs (just over 10.35 gallons) of petrol and takes roughly £37 to fill from empty (at 75.9 pence per litre). Due to new road tax rules and the emission dependent tax scheme, the car costs £125 a year due to the low CO2 emissions as opposed to the usual £165 for older cars. According to official figures, ...

A fun small family car!
Advantages: quick, economical, good looking, reliable. Disadvantages: noisy diesel
I bought a rover 25 not too long ago for a good price, with the usual in mind; economy, reliability, price but was surprised to find how well these things drive. i was taken aback by the punchy, smooth 2 litre turbo diesel engine which will give the majority of cars on the road a run for their money! since buying it, i haven't looked back and will definately look to buying a diesel in the future.ok,so they're a bit noisy, and smell slightly more than ...

My Rover 25 5-year report
Advantages: Comfortable, nippy, good looking Disadvantages: Poor dealer service
...25 has inherited that strange Rover trait of being able to accelerate around corners with no dramas.
Having been also driving several Hyundai cars and a SEAT Ibiza (06) I realised that I never fully appreciated just how good the Rover is! The SEAT sounds rough and feels cheap compared to the little Longbridge Longboat, while the comparison with the Hyundais reveals just how far the Koreans have to come.
I regularly drive all manner of cars in connection ... ...BMW 530d, but the little Rover always brings a smile to my face.
You can't buy new ones anymore, so buy the best secondhand one you can afford. Service history is a MUST. If you don't fancy tinkering yourself, find a good local independent mechanic for servicing. The car is well designed and layout is good, so costs will be reasonable. If you can't find a record of a timing belt change, get one done at once. The Interval is 90kmiles/6 years. Replace ...
