    The Rover 3.5 V8 Development Vittesse is probably one of the best and rarest of all Rovers built up to now. In it's original non turbocharged version it gave a staggering 240 bhp giving it a top speed of 150 mph on a flat,straight road. When Fully tuned with all the proper Janspeed Kits, 400+ bhp is possible. OK the engine is mounted in the front but with all that power going straight through a 5 speed manual box, who realy cares!     I had a V8 Rover SD1 years ago whilst at college. Bought very second hand this was the biggest mistake I've ever made in a car. From the outset it was very unreliable, every time I took it out something seemed to go wrong with it. Fuel consumption averaged about 18mpg and boy did it rust well. These cars were launched in 1976/77 as an executive car, powerful and well specified they looked like a real match for the BMW 5 series.
