Rover 75 Diesels
Advantages: MPG..Toys..Insurance group.. Disadvantages: Bootspace..if anything !
I'm on my 2nd Rover 75 now, a saloon with all the bells and whistles...I had the estate version on recommendation of a truly knowledgeable friend in the motor trade and loved it..then the leather clad, sunroofed Connosieur turned up at a laughable price so I went for it...
Both versions offer a seriously cheap way to get a good strong car, wich is both comfortable and economical...mileage claims from fans vary between 45 and 55 mpg on the diesel ... ...nice to your local MG Rover supplier, and God help you if you pop the clutch..£700-£850 for the repair isn't going to make anyone laugh...but all in all this is a very underrated car for the money..the MG versions are the same vehicle with different badging and a few suspension tweaks..worth the extra money ? ...you decide.
Insurance is Group 10, spares are easy to find and it's always nice to fly the flag !
Most other Rovers ( especially 1.8 petrol ...

My first car, and my first Rover!
Advantages: Cheap to buy, fantastic free revving K series engine, good spec, fantastic looks, great handling Disadvantages: None
...is the story of my Rover 214Si.
I was 19 years old when I started to learn to drive and look for that all important first car. I considered all makes and models ranging from vauxhall, ford and peugeot but I never came across anything that really tickled my fancy.
My friend at the time owned a Rover 414i which I knew was cheap on insurance, cheap to run and tax and after having been in his I knew it packed a punch and sounded brilliant! The 400 ... ...unsporty. However I put Rover into the search on autotrader and came across the 200 and it was love at first site!
I opted for the 1.4 engine rather than the 1.1 because I heard the 1.4 offered more economy and performance combined. The 1.6 engine fell into the higher tax bracket. I ended up with a gorgeous Tahiti Blue 1998 Rover 214Si 16v 5 door model. Even though the previous owner had somewhat destroyed some of the interior trim with silver paint ...

If your thinking about buying this car, dont bother.
Advantages: none Disadvantages: Like plastic and falls apart
I have had a Rover 25 for about 12 months now and to be honest I have wanted to get rid of it ever since I bought it, there has been nothing but problems with it. My Rover is 5 years old so you would expect a car of this age to be running fairly well, well no! The MOT ended up costing me £400 because of leaks and things and also something had come loose inside the exhause which apparently could cause the car to konk out at any time (not what you ... ...windows have always fell down by about 1cm when I shut the back doors so I have to climb through the front and do it that way. The whole car is like plasic and certainly not built to last, it has costed me soooo much money since I got it I just cant afford to get a different one. ...

rover
Advantages: speed, reliabiliy and comfort and not too expensive. Disadvantages: none
my dad has had his rover since i was a young girl and it still runs beautifully, we even bought a second before rover went bust for £1000. I remember how we'd used to sail past literally every car on the motorway they are great for overtaking uphill i seem to remember. The car was like rocket being launched horizontally yet moving gracefully through the car like a swan through wateriHe would not say good about any car but rovers. In my opinion this ...
