Advantages Luxury at low price, Originally created by BMW, Looks like a Jaguar.

Disadvantages Company gone into liquidation, Petrol engines had tendancy to blow head gasket.

Yes I know that unfortunatly after years of unfaultable service MG/Rover has sadly gone into liquidation.

Even more sader is that I never got to own a Rover and when I finally started looking at them the worst happend, however, I still will purchase a second-hand Rover when the time comes.

Why?!, I here you cry...

Well just take a look at the Rover 75, it just oozes style and luxury that could only be incorporated by BMW. You can see this reflected in the buttons for the Sat Nav/Radio/CD player and the gear knob on both automatic and manual transmissions before even looking at the quality of the interior trim and leather seats.

The newer 2004/2005 model increased it's wow factor tenfold.

So OK, the Rover 75 had it's problems, big deal so do other car manufacturers including prestige companies such as Porsche and Jaguar. I remember when hundreds of the new Porsche Cayenne's were recalled because a fitting on the rear seat belts was incorrectly installed making them potential dangerous in certain circumstances.

As far as I know the things to watch out for on Rover 75's are that the petrol engines can blow head gaskets without warning, the connector under the drivers seat can become disconnected so the electric seat doesn't operated (easily fixed) and on the really early models the petrol engines used to just cut out whilst the vehicle was in motion.

A tip I read in AutoExpress is to try and purchase Rover 75's that were built in the Longbridge factory by MG/Rover and not the ones built in the Oxford factory by BMW as the Longbridge built Rovers are a much better build quality and the handling is more superior too. To indentify this you will find that Longbridge varients will have body-coloured sills and not the standard black ones used by Oxford.

If anyone is interested, the model I want to get is a Rover 75 2.0 CDTi Connossieur SE Auto in Sandstone and Light Oak interior.
Extras I would have would be the Connossieur SE Pack, Xenon Pack, Diesel Parking Heater and Highline Satellite Navigation.

I really cannot see how you can review a car that you haven't owned. Yes you have detailed points such as the failing of the cylinder head gasket which is now reaching epidepic proportions but you still are not reviewing the car as owned by yourself. Good luck in your quest for one and I hope that you get a good one. When you do come back and edit your review and let me know and I will be interested to see how the car matches your expectations..Baz
