Review on the Rover 75 Connoisseur SE 2.0L V6 Automatic. Year 2000 model.

I purchased this car in 2004 with 22,000 miles on the clock. I kept it for almost 4 years and covered 73,000 miles. I really enjoyed owning the Rover 75 and never had any major issues with it. The cost of servicing was fairly high, especially the 6 year service which included changing the cambelts, this was a whopping £800.

The interior conveys a feeling of luxury, from the burr walnut dash to the piped leather seats. Extras on my car included a burr walnut steering wheel, sat nav, TV with teletext, cruise control, electric rear blind, trip computer and heated seats. You also get seperate climate control for each side of the car, something missing on many more expensive cars. The dashboard has a lovely orange glow which I much prefer to the green on my new car (Jaguar X type).

The automatic gearbox is smooth although sometimes the car seemed to lack torque, when you push the pedal down hard you get lots of noise from the V6, but this is not converted into much extra power at the wheels.

Fuel economy was generally around 30 MPG on average and about 37 MPG on the motorway. On more than one occasion I saw less than 15 MPG on the trip computer.

The car seemed to eat a lot of tyres, typically I'd get about 15,000 miles before the tyres became worn. I also had to replace the brake pipes after an MOT failure, these seem to corrode. Other than these issues I had no break downs or mechanical problems.

In the end I had to change the Rover 75 for something more economical, I drive a lot of miles and with the current price of petrol it was not much fun filling up woth £57 and only getting 350 miles.
Recently I traded it in for a Jaguar X type diesel. I actually really miss the Rover 75 and was very sad to see it go.

Car review of Rover 75 2.0 by dreamstar70

Advantages: Interior, boot space, seats, fuel, dash, navigator, handling on straights
Disadvantages: poor handling around town, clunky gears, expensive

The Rover 75v6 SE is a very classy car, perhaps one of the best cars Rover (or whatever they're called these days) has ever produced. The styling is very much in league with the Jaguar S-type but doesn't quite beat it for quality either in the interior design or the build of the motor. However, the car does shout "come and get me, I won't break down...honest!" quite loudly. Opening the driver's door for the first time you can instantly smell the ...
...than the school runs. Rover have finally got it right at last...almost! The Rover 25 & 75 series are clearly their best ever and will hopefully lead to bigger and better things, especially if they can tweak the handling a bit. I can say without too much contradiction that the 75 is a class car on the big roads; it also gets noticed by passers-by but this time they will be stunned & awed by the quality and the styling rather than bursting out into ... Not For The Image Conscious
Car review of Rover 75 2.0 by polydeuces

Advantages: Well made, good materials
Disadvantages: Dull image, colours

The Rover 75 has an image problem. There are those that say it is called the 75 because that is the average age of the owners of the vehicle. For this I think we have to look at Rover’s corporate image and the image chosen for the 75 in its advertising. Rover does not seem to have benefited in image terms for its period of ownership by BMW. Rather Rover seems to be have been perceived in these terms, Rover owned BY and subservient to BMW and not ...
...this made the sale of Rover relatively easy it has left Rover vulnerable to a perception of inferior quality. The Rover 75 was introduced as a quality rather than a mass volume vehicle a change in emphasis from the Rover 600/800 it replaced. However this means that if it does not achieve the build standards of a quality vehicle and will not have the sales of a volume car it will be a failure. It was surely a marketing mistake by Rover to compromise ... Read review

Car review of Rover 75 2.0 by superguinness

Advantages: interior comfort
Disadvantages: poor handling and a bit slow for a 2 litre

A few months ago rover dealerships were offering the crazy deal of a 24 hour road test with unlimited mileage. All I had to do was arrange temporary comprehensive insurance through my broker, which surprisingly didn't cost anything extra. So armed with my temporary cover note and my driving licence I marched into the showroom one Friday morning to claim my prize. Yep, they hadn't been joking, 'here's the car', they said, 'its brimming with petrol ...
...it would have been rude not to, surely.... I had arranged the test drive to coincide with a trip (from Sheffield) to St. Albans and back in a day. So I reckoned that I would get a good idea of how the car was overall. Initially driving around in Sheffield, which is full of hills and pot-holed roads I wasn't impressed. The car is definately on the very heavy side of heavy and you really had to floor the accelerator to gain altitude. This was the 2 ... Read review

Rover 75 (V6 2.0) Automatic
Car review of Rover 75 2.0 by maged85

Advantages: Wonderful looks, inside& outside( smooth V6 engine and comfortable seats.
Disadvantages: Not really economical, expensive parts and expensive to run V6 petrol.

I purchased this car new, Rover 75 V6 2.0 Automatic year 2000 back when I was in my country Libya. I used it for 2 years then sold it. I really liked the car so much especially its smooth V6 engine, i know the engine was not powerful enough but what do you expect from a 2.0 V6? The engine has a wonderful sound that makes you wanna press the acceleration pedal more & more. It was also wonderful to drive, you really feel safe inside it, feels solid, ...
...in the back. The handling in this car was great and easy. Body looks nice, classy and sporty too. The reason I sold this car, is because it was not very economical car and the spare parts are so expensive, more expensive than BMW parts in Libya, but after all I still love this car and I missed driving it. ... Great Long Distance Cruiser
Car review of Rover 75 2.0 CDT Classic 4dr by  SgtZara

Advantages: Lovely Looking Car / Price / Economy / Reliability
Disadvantages: Generally Associated With The 'Older' Driver / Boot Space / No Rear Wipe / Huge Rear View Mirror

...I've always wanted a Rover 75 and so when an August 2001 example, a 2.0 litre CDT Classic SE came on the market for a mere £6500 with only 54k on the clock, I was down to at the showroom straight away. It was a fine example and I needed no convincing to trade my Ford Mondeo in for this beauty. I've had this car for 4 months now and it has been 4 months of blissful, relaxing motoring. Fuel economy is averaging out at around 45mpg which for a big car like this isn't bad. The car has a Full Rover Service History and touch wood (which there is plenty off in the cabin) I have yet to experience any problems. Being a heavier car, you can't throw it into corners as fast as other cars I've had but then again ... this is a Rover 75 and I don't think it's designed for that kind of driving. The Rover 75 likes to take you from A to B in... Read review

Rover 75 Diesels
Car review of Rover 75 2.0 Cdt by  bloofox

Advantages: MPG..Toys..Insurance group..
Disadvantages: Bootspace..if anything !

...I'm on my 2nd Rover 75 now, a saloon with all the bells and whistles...I had the estate version on recommendation of a truly knowledgeable friend in the motor trade and loved it..then the leather clad, sunroofed Connosieur turned up at a laughable price so I went for it... Both versions offer a seriously cheap way to get a good strong car, wich is both comfortable and economical...mileage claims from fans vary between 45 and 55 mpg on the diesel 2ltr engine and that's got to be good enough..They'll tow anything and run all day on motorways or round the town... The interiors are fitted with enough toys to keep even the biggest gadget freak happy and electrically they're usually pretty good..a few ABS sensor problems and a bugger of a system for fuel delivery ( twin pumps) often means it's worth being nice to your local MG Rover...
