Advantages Advantages You can park anywhere, great fun, cheap to run,

Disadvantages Disadvantages not the safest car on the planet.

Yeah, I'm a bit of a nut when it comes to minis. I bought my first mini in about 1995. It was a pageant blue 850 on a V Reg, and I paid £400 for it with 12 months MOT. I promptly went to Blackpool in it for my first mini show which was an illuminations event being held at Norbreck castle hotel. The little 850 got stuck in the illuminations traffic and overheated.....on the motorway. Mmmm, I pulled over and let it cool down, but I had no water in the car, so when I set off again I drove down the hard shoulder with my hazards on, at about 15 miles an hour - naughty I know, but I didn't know what ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap to run, tax and insure, fun to drive, good talking point.

Disadvantages Disadvantages May be unreliable depending on the car? Not exactly the safest car, rust?

I love my Mini. I never thought I would love a car but in this review I will explain why! I've only just passed my driving test at the grand old age of 25 and my boyfriend's car is an old Mini-she is a Mini 35, built in 1994 and has 1.3/1275cc engine whatever that means! She is 'Pearlescent Nevada Red.' We got me insured on the very same day I passed my test and I nervously learnt to drive her... I'm not going to drone on about the full history of the Mini but will touch on it briefly. In 1956 during the Suez Crisis petrol prices rocketed. A more fuel economic car was needed. Thus the Mini was ... more

Advantages Advantages FUN FUN me Do, Unsafe

Disadvantages Disadvantages Doesn't work that well, Unsafe

Really, I *DO* have a big one, it's bigger than most peoples. It's not massive, but it is big all the same. To be honest I'm not sure if I could even change a tyre on a car, so I'm probably a fraud for daring to write here at all. One thing I do know though is what it's like to drive a Mini. Since passing my test (first time may I modestly add) back in June 2000 I have almost permanently been on the road in my mum's Mini. Sadly it's only a Mini Sprite, a more middle-aged model than the glorious Cooper. All the same it IS a Mini and Minis are the coolest cars on the road. Well perhaps a Beetle ... more

    Advantages Advantages Everybody loves Minis

Disadvantages Disadvantages Rover are not an easy company to deal with

I have always loved the mini, and as soon as I left full-time education and became employed, I bought a newish Mini Cooper. Having previously owned several Mini's including a classic Cooper and a cabriolet and other various 'rust-buckets', I couldn't resist a new one. I purchased it second-hand from a Mini Specialist in Padiham, Lancs for a very good price. After a year or so, I decided I had outgrown Minis, so went to a Rover Dealer at Trident Weybridge to order a Rover 200. There I saw a brand-new Mini Cooper Sports and couldnt resist. I ordered one for August 1st delivery and this is where ... more

Advantages Advantages An excellant, reliable, fun car which is relatively cheap to run.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Sportspack option causes less nimble handling and some owners have problems with the steering veering to the left.

The 1.3 Mini Cooper is an excellant car. However, is it really a Mini. I must confess I own 2 Minis, an X-reg and a C-reg. I also own an extremely rare 1980's Mini Van. So, some would expect my opinion to be biased. Well..... If you are looking out for a small classy looking car, which is cheap to run and look after, with many tuning capabilities and excellant handling, then the Mini is just for you. The 1.3i is very reliable, and so is the twin-point injection systems. Both have a tuning kit available at MiniSport, padiham where the power can be increased VERY significantly. The ECU also has ... more
