the RBS is an ok bank but the RBS Credit Card (Mastercard) is the poor relation and does not deserve the RBS brand I made some transfers into the RBS credit card at the same time and earlier than my RBS account and a Visa credit card and guess what ... the RBS take days longer for payments to be received to the account. When you call them you have to call the 0870 premium rate number (as opposed to my other banks being 0845 and 0800 nos) Most of the menu's are frustrating though the RBS cred card is slightly more infuriating than the average. The frustration really hits home when you have to try and have a conversation as the staff struggle with the question 'has any money been paid IN' or 'credited' or 'received' and they are keen to give a lecture about how a payment in was actually a 'refund' (which actually wasn't the case) This frustration is compounded when it transpires they will not willingly help you find your long awaited credit (transfer, refund, payment etc) until 10 days though the poorly trained staff will initially start off by saying 'payments take upto 5 working days' but the reality is what takes other banks as little as 3 days to do the RBS credit card will often take 5 plus working days The staff delight in recording your frustration and annoyance but no mention of goodwill credits (£30 in my instance for around 5 calls) which are due to be credited to the account. The only time i felt i was being dealt with by a competent staff member was after being referred to a level 2 manager (asking to speak to a manager and then asking to speak to their manager!) I have been offered a £30 credit yesterday though it has yet to be credited or appear on my balance. The payment i was chasing was transferred on Monday and i chased up on Friday (2 days after some of my other accounts were credited with similar timed transactions) Compared the RBS banks good 0800 balance (and last 6 transactions) service and 0845 24hr directbanking the RBS Credit Card 0870 customer service is very disappointing. Additionally annoying is the time it also takes for transfers from RBS Bank to RBS Cred Card ... slow! its almost as if the credit card are going under the banner but not really in the same league. Recommendation take the free interest say thanks alot and get out asap if you do stick with them and have a genuine concern or dispute save it for a level 2 manager and they can be quite good and show respect and empathy
