Advantages Advantages Cheaper than a courier, easier to post, priority handling (within the UK, at least)

Disadvantages Disadvantages Tracking isn't detailed, no guaranteed delivery times.

Airsure is one of the three services Royal Mail offers for sending post internationally; the other two are International Signed-For and Airmail. The key features of Airsure are that it is given priority handling within the UK, making it generally somewhat quicker than the other services, and the post can be tracked. Contrastingly, Airmail does not allow for tracking and is treated as regular mail, therefore its expected delivery is typically later than Airsure. This is the same for International Signed-For, except it includes tracking and requires a signature upon receipt. Generally, Airsure ... more

Advantages Advantages No advantages at all

Disadvantages Disadvantages Packages are not tracked and consequently lost. Client service is pathetic.

I'm due to set off in 10 days on a trip which requires 3 different visas. I'm a UK citizen living in Spain. I set my passport (via the very reliable Spanish certified mail) to an agency to get my visas for me which they later set to my UK home address, to be then sent to me. My passport and 3 visas were sent 6th March via Airsure (recommended by nice lady at the Post Office, of course) and according to their joke of a tracking system, the package arrived in Spain 7th March. According to 5 different Spanish post offices, the central post office and the postal service at the airport have ... more

1 Star Quick review of Royal Mail Airsure by Moriaty 31/07/2007
My advice - don't use this service - pay a premium and use something like DHL, UPS, FEDEX. Needed an item to get to the US fairly quickly and checked the Royal mail website - Airsure recommended with 4/5 day delivery and online tracking - Sounds good. Delivery took 12 days! Online tracking consists of (I paraphrase) - "we have received your package" (I know I gave it to you) - "Your package is on its way to the overseas country" - "your package has been passed to the overseas postal service for delivery" AND THAT'S IT, THAT'S ALL YOU GET. ... more

Advantages Advantages None that I am aware of!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Costs more, not guaranteed, not particularly fast or reliable, unhelpful customer service

I live in the US and needed some documents sent from the UK. My mother enquired about which service to use and was told that Airsure was fast, safe, and reliable. She paid around $15 to send the letter and was quoted a delivery time of 3-5 days and given a tracking #. When the item hadn't arrived after 7 days, I looked on the RoyalMail website using thetracking number given. The only info it had was that the item was being processed for delivery abroad. I then called the number given on the website and was told that the item had left Heathrow 6 days earlier and arrived in NY 4 days ago. Three ... more

Advantages Advantages parcels leaving on weekends

Disadvantages Disadvantages misleading information, customer service, unreliable

I lost my possesion while abroad on a Friday and I told someone to send me some important documents from home. As the private delivery companies were closed for business for weekend, my friend went to the Post Office were she was advised about the AirSure as the most rapid, recorded service for overseas delivery. The aim of recorded delivery was estimated to 3-4 days. From the second day onward, on the Royal Mail website the parcel appeared as delivered to the overseas postal service while nothing actually entered into the country for one week! I found this annoying people from the postal ... more
