I'm due to set off in 10 days on a trip which requires 3 different visas. I'm a UK citizen living in Spain. I set my passport (via the very reliable Spanish certified mail) to an agency to get my visas for me which they later set to my UK home address, to be then sent to me. My passport and 3 visas were sent 6th March via Airsure (recommended by nice lady at the Post Office, of course) and according to their joke of a tracking system, the package arrived in Spain 7th March.
According to 5 different Spanish post offices, the central post office and the postal service at the airport have absolutely no record of my package or the reference number. It is now 18th March and they no one can tell me where my package is, if it has been stolen, or if it will ever be delivered. After having spoken to Royal Mail, I am of the opinion that they washed their hands of the matter the second that the package left the UK, somewhat worrying considering that they claim to track everything all the way.
So here I am, after 4 months of careful travel preparation for a 3 month journey and having sent for my visas well in advance, waiting for an invisible Airsure "tracked" package. which could cost me the entire trip.
I have never written a complaint about anything in my life, but I would strongly recommend that anyone considering Airsure as an option should look elsewhere.

Quick review of Royal Mail Airsure
My advice - don't use this service - pay a premium and use something like DHL, UPS, FEDEX. Needed an item to get to the US fairly quickly and checked the Royal mail website - Airsure recommended with 4/5 day delivery and online tracking - Sounds good. Delivery took 12 days! Online tracking consists of (I paraphrase) - "we have received your package" (I know I gave it to you) - "Your package is on its way to the overseas country" - "your package has been passed to the overseas postal service for delivery" AND THAT'S IT, THAT'S ALL YOU GET. The package was delivered on 21st July and the online tracking is still showing the last message 10 days later. Absolute rubbish service - don't bother. ...

Advantages: None that I am aware of! Disadvantages: Costs more, not guaranteed, not particularly fast or reliable, unhelpful customer service
...still not received my letter - even worse is that it is not considered lost until after 25 days and then it takes 3 months for them to follow up on it. I am VERY dissatisfied with this service and wouldn't recomend it, or Royal Mail customer service, to anyone! ...

...second day onward, on the Royal Mail website the parcel appeared as delivered to the overseas postal service while nothing actually entered into the country for one week! I found this annoying people from the postal service in the airport. Trying to contact the customer service I was told the same information every day as if the parcel was lost or stuck. The tracking system "worked" until the parcel left the country. In two cases, even if I was making ... ...the phone. On the phone you can find new information about the service, not mentioned when advertised in the Post office: you do not have the right to make a complaint for overseas deliveries and the eventual response is given in 3 months! Finally, the parcel arrived in 10 days (7 working days) and, as I was told by a postal employee, by normal mail! For me the service it was just appalling and a major sad joke. Be aware! ...

Quick review of Royal Mail Airsure
Sent a birthday present to my daughter in California via this service, which after two weeks has not yet arrived. The tracking system is a joke (it only says that the item is passed to international delivery services, with no other information). The customer support is a joke. It seems like a service from 50 years ago. There is no recourse, really -- after 25 days, you get to submit a claim form which then takes months to investigate and then process. I will never again use this service and I am not recommending it to anyone. I have used priority mail (which is what this servce really is) in the US, with excellent results. But, when combined with Royal Mail, it is very different. ...

Quick review of Royal Mail Airsure
Sent important package from UK to Hong Kong. Parcel arrived in 4 days! Very quick as hoped. However the delivery was "attempted" and a card left because unfortunately my friend wasn't at home at time, I guess. Hopefully they'll re-deliver or my friend will pick it up?
Pros:
Fast service in my experience.
Tracking fairly accurate/informative.
Good value for money.
Cons:
Tracking system isn't as reliable as I hoped.
Not sure what's happening if parcel isn't collected/re-delivered. Not good feedback! :(
Zero customer service, just you try getting to talk to a real person!
I'd use the service again for fast delivery, I think. ...
