They were considerate, helpful and efficient. Their appointed garage delivered a courtesy car to my remote country address ... ...The accident forms were simple to complete and when the other driver wrote to us, I just forwarded it all on to them and they dealt with everything.
After the second accident a couple of weeks ago, they didn't even send a claim form as there was no other vehicle involved, but once more sent a courtesy car immediately and returned my car, newly sprayed within a week.

The accident forms were simple to complete and when the other driver wrote to us, I just forwarded it all on to them and they dealt with everything.

On this occasion, they hadn't re-fitted the wing mirror properly, but after a phone call they are coming out to my house to fit a brand new one. Brilliant service, polite and helpful.
I've lost 20% of my NCB but this is to be expected.
First class service at a time when it was sorely needed.

Quick review of Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance plc
We have an engineering policy with them for our business. They are a complete nightmare to deal with, and we've never even tried to make a claim! They seem to have absolutely no handle on their accounts or paperwork and aren't even capable of changing an address. They charge us tax that they're not supposed to (on an Isle of Man insurance) and insist on requesting that we pay our invoices, months after they HAVE BEEN PAID! ...

I have just read a comment from a Ciao member commenting on RSA.
I have got a number of quotes of them in the past for car insurance and have always found the quotes given very expennsive. It was as if the sales staff did not want to sell the product at all and that it was them doing me a favour for actually giving me a quote. ...to have an under-bonnet fire. Royal SunAlliance arranged for the car to be taken away. It was a write off, too badly damaged to repair. A few days later a settlement figure was agreed and all was well. I then got a letter asking if I was aware the vehicle had been a previous total loss. Obviously i wasn't and forwarded a copy of the HPI. I was visited by an investigator who grilled me for 4 hours! After 4 and a half months and 4 different offices, ... ...unfortunately AA is linked to Royal SunAlliance.) Due to this, they cancelled my insurance, claiming non-disclosure! Even better, they cancelled my insurance 2 days before Christmas, leaving me unable to travel and in limbo, desperately trying to re-insure, no easy process when you have had insurance declined. Advantages: Cheapest quote last year. Disadvantages: Cost barely came down this year.
Last year Sun Alliance did me proud, it was the cheapest quote& as I had been on my Mum's insurance for a few months they gave a 1 years no claims. The car was a fiat punto worth about £2500 & the monthly payments were £90.
As I made no claims in that year I was looking forward to a nice premium reduction. (This was still for the same car)
I could not believe it when I got the quote, it had barely changed & after shopping round I found it nearly ... ...was £80 a month as opposed to a quote with AXA which was £46 a month!
I rang & asked why but they werent interested. To make thing worse I advised them that I had changed jobs, now a civil servant & that the car would now be parked on private drive as opposed to on the street. I couldnt believe it when they told me that it made it go up more! Now £85 a month!
I was appalled with this company&wrote a letter to them,I never heard anything back. Obviously ...

This company specialises in insurance for static caravans, lodges and chalets and caravan holiday insurance cover from Royal and SunAllianceInsuranceplc.
The company provides extensive cover for all sorts of holiday homes and personal needs.
I first heard of this company when the insurance on my caravan was due for renewal.
When I first purchased my caravan, the site owners had recommended a company and we had taken out insurance with them the previous year for £213.96. This company had sent us a renewal quote of £254.16. At the same time I had a letter from the caravan park telling us of Leisuredays. Before I could do anything I was contacted by Leisuredays to tell me about the services they could offer and gave me a quote of £134.75. Obviously a lot cheaper!

We would never take out a policy with Paymentshield or Royal & SunAlliance underwriters ever again.
The customer service is appalling. I had an escape of water necessitating building work to a party wall between my bathroom and my neighbour's kitchen. We got three quotes and the work came to £500 - £600, the amount Paymentshield say they are sending us - £32.17p yes that's £32.17 (£200 is excess). This is how they have managed to wriggle out of paying.
The water damage caused wood to rot in our old house, wooden exposed beams in a victorian cottage. Yet they say wood rot is not covered and by any circumstances so therefore the've worked out to replace a bit of plasterboard and insulation is all that is required hence the pathetic amount which they still haven't sent or written to us. HOWEVER THE ONLY LETTER WE HAVE RECEIVED ...

Royal & SunAlliance Travel Insurance for free? Yes, it's true (sort of). I'll explain. If you are a Natwest Bank account holder earning more than £20,000 p.a. (I think), then you qualify for a NatWest Advantage Gold account (including Gold Visa card). Initially, when the £6/month account charge is explained, you might think that you've got better things to do with £72 p.a. than pay a bank any extra.
However, there are several benefits which the regular traveller might like to consider:-
Free travel insurance for self and partner, underwritten by Royal & SunAlliance. This pays the account charge in itself. Extra family members can be tacked on as and when for a reasonable fee
Then you get commission-free foreign currency transactions.
Coupled with other benefits like credit card cover, this starts to cost in for the regular ...
