Royksopp Friday 27th June, other stage Glastonbury

Royksopp are a Norwegian band who live in Bergen probably in centrally heated splendour, but their music brings a breath of the fresh clear, sharp fresh air from the arctic tundra.

Once the orange orb of the sun had sunk below the Glastonbury hills and the pinkie orange, purples of the few clouds in the pale blue sky shaded into charcoal grey Royksopp came onto ...
...everyone’s face.

Royksopp are a two-piece band, Torbjorn Bruntland and Svien Berge. I think it was Svein Berge that showed his athletic skills as he bounced around slapping complex beats from his electro percussion pad while Torbjorn Bruntland was a mere static figure ½ hidden behind a bank of keyboards and sequencers.

Accompanying them were a female vocalist and a bass player.

They played favourites ... more

If you've not heard of them yet...why not?

Advantages: Music you can listen too WHATEVER mood you're in
Disadvantages: Only 1 album

...let that put you off. Royksopp are an awesome group and their music can be listened to time and time again And it's not like you can really classify them - funk, dance, electronica, even acid jazz....nothing quite fits. You could easily close your eyes and float away to one song, whilst to the next it would be hands in the air and raving away Their album (the only one so far, unfortunately) is a modern marvel. "Melody AM" it's called, and I thoroughly ...
...copy (or download it if that's your thing) It's the sort of album that you'll put on once and think: "How long have these guys been around? Why on earth have I never heard of them before?" I've now seem them 3 or 4 times at gigs and festivals, and they're equally good live, if not better. If you see their name in a dance tent this summer, check them out ...

Royskopp In and In

Advantages: Great Songs

...about the Band. The Band Royksopp were reformed in 1998 after a few years apart trying to get a singles title. The songs Eple and Poor Leno were released in 2001 and are now used on a number of Tv channels or Clubs. The Album "Melody Am" appeared in shops in the late summer of 2001 classed as a chilling out album. All we need is music, sweet music

Advantages: I've written my first review in months!
Disadvantages: It wasn't the most challenging..erm.. challenge

?t bother buying it? FIRST- I can?t actually remember the first one I bought myself, but I do remember the first CD my dad ever bought which was the Greatest Hits of 1993. We still have it now and it?s one of the oddest mixtures ever! Take That, Fresh Prince, Shaggy, Ugly Joe (anyone remember?), Shampoo, East 17? actually, it?s a classic. MOST RELAXING- Either Royksopp or Badly Drawn Boy. Royksopp when I?m on my own either trying to tidy my room or do some work and Badly Drawn Boy when I?m reading or my boyfriend?s round  MOST THOUGHT PROVOKING- Badly Drawn Boy ? The Hour of the Bewilderbeast. I don?t find it thought provoking as in, ?hmmm this has severe philosophical implications? but more like ?he has so nicked that lyric from Taja Savelle?s ?Love is contagious? and how beautiful to use ?soleil? instead of ?sun ...

Some people are all me me me...

Advantages: My life so far has been quite short
Disadvantages: So not much to write about

a good idea that it's always worth watching, even if it does take over 24 weeks of your life every year. I like all sorts of music, as long as it's not Slipknot (they just make me laugh), Classical (Zzzz), Akon (I have to agree with you there Chris) or the Crazy Frog. Did they really release a Crazy Frog album while I was on holiday? If anyone bought that, I want to know. But I do like garage, e.g. Dizzee Rascal, rock e.g. U2, dance e.g. Royksopp, RnB e.g. Alicia Keys and even a bit of pop e.g. David Gray (where did he go?). My album collection is pretty diverse for a teenager. Favourite song has to be Queen's Don't Stop Me Now, closely followed by Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, even though I'm not a big fan of Queen otherwise. The last album I bought was Basement Jaxx's The Singles, it's fantastic. I'm into buying classic albums ...
