Virginia, one of the secetaries, to the outsiders in the city such as Clara and Ella, Virginia the mouse lacks even the very basics to be part of their high society living, this inculdes even the most simplea outward signs of a any personality whatsoever.
When they all end up in a the pub after being sacked in a mysterious manner, the girls group together to cunningly take revenge upon the poeple who cost them their jobs. With time and frequent consumption of alchol, they find that even though they lost their job they now have an added bounus of discovering that they have a lot in common and could become the best of friends.
Advantages: Very funny in places Disadvantages: Slow start
We meet the main character, Ruth, at University, along with her friends Jess, Sophie and Sarah. Ruth gets dumped at her Graduation Ball, as her boyfriend wants to travel round the world.
Ruth thinks its the end of the world and goes into hibernation for a long time. In the meantime, her best friends from University have moved down to London to live together and are having a great time. When Ruth picks herself up out of the doldrums, she decides ... ...have a career like they're doing - oh no, she's on a mission to find a husband!
What follows is an often hilarious story of Ruth's search for Mr Right. All the men she meets seem to have serious flaws to Ruth - whether it be drugs, or just the fact that they work as a pizza delivery boy!
If you've ever been dumped yourself, you'll sympathise with Ruth (though it does get a bit tiring after a while in this book). Or if you've ever found tried to ...

Advantages: Good read Disadvantages: Main character could be annoying in places
This story centres around the chaacter of Ruth, who at the start of the book we find has just finished uni, and watches her carefully made plans disintegrate before her eyes. Finding herself dumped at graduation, she decides to firstly get her boyfrined Ben back, and when he goes away travelling, she goes on a mad man hunt across London looking for Mr Right.
With her old fashioned ways, she decides that a wife is a career, and that she shouldn't ... ...into gainful employment, but when she starts a few job, her life changes. Her friends and housemates also find out that no matter how carefully made your plans are in life - everything can so easily change.
I found this book very good, although I wanted to slap Ruth in places. It was very readable, and while not great literature, it's a good girly read, which makes you laugh out loud in places. I love Faith Bleasdale's books, and this one didn't ...
