Thanks to Hannah my niece, we have the entire colection of rainbow fairies books, the first in the series is this one. A story all about Ruby the red fairy. COST: £3.99 FORMAT: Paperback PUBLISHED: may 2003 PLACE OF PURCHASE: Waterstones PUBLISHERS: Orchard books AUTHOR: Daisy Meadows PAGES: 80
Cover: As with all in this range, it's another horid paperback, bends easily, shows creaes, doesn't wipe down easily and the corners start to fray. If you chose to strenghten your book one can suggest some to prolong a 'new' look and to help prevent frayed and upturned corners. Full colour fairy illustrations, and adorned with red foil sparkle, it appeals to the little girls whilst catching the light in book stores.
Story: The series of books tells the story of the Rainbow fairies. Each book concentrates on the background and adventure of one of the faires. Ranging from the first book in the series, Ruby (this on) through to Heather the Violet fairy which is the last in the series. Each is only 80 pages long and the text is large and simple. The idea of these books is to encourage reading and imagination, rather than actually be taxing and a word learning experience. I would say these are very much leisure reads as apposed to challenging.
Rachel and Kirsty are little girls who decide to take a holiday at Rainspell Island, and have no idea what kind of magical adventure is waiting for them! In this exciting story, the seven Rainbow Fairies are banished from Fairyland by the wicked Jack Frost and If they don't return soon, Fairyland is doomed to be colorless and gray. But when they think all is lost, Rachel and Kirsty come across Ruby the Red Fairy, found In a pot at the end of the rainbow. Can they keep her safe and find the rest of her Rainbow sisters . . . before it's too late?
This is one of Hannahs favourite of the rainbow fairies range, She sayd she likes the red fairies pretty hair and nice dress. She really likes these books even though she can read them in less than an hour as the vocabulary and set out is really straight forward as theres pictures on almost evry page and some have double pages with illustrations and only one sentence!
Overall a four star rating, because it's one in a series it will mean you'll be nagged and pestered silly until you have bought your little 'princess' every single one. But I suppose it's better way to keep her entertained than plying her with sweets or allowing her to watch some of the mind numbing television progrmmes currrently avaliable for her age group.
...trapped inside it. This is Ruby and she explains how they must help her to find her sisters (the other rainbow fairies). The girls have lots of fun on there holiday and agree to help find the rainbow fairies, but they must keep it a secret. This is a great story and has helped my 7 year old daughter on her way to being a fluent and confident young reader. The story is very interesting and it keeps her gripped at all times. The story is broken down ... ...the book to break up the text. This book has 73 pages. These books are widely available from many retailers, we got this one from WH Smiths for 3.99 I would recommend this book to any young reader, to help them become more confident reading on their own or to others. The book is laid out in a way that is not intimidating to an early reader. I find that just the look of some books can put off my daughter from reading them on her own, but not this ...
