For those of you who have read one of the earlier Jack Reacher adventures such as Killing Floor or Die Trying this particular novel stand up pretty well to these. In my opinion it is not as good as the early pieces of work buy it is still an enjoyable gripping thriller and a page-turner. Having now read all of the series it may well be that I'm beginning to find Child's writing a little predictable, partly this is because you start to ask yourself ... ...many times in his life. If the characters and the plot lines begin to lose credibility then the story fails to draw you in to it, in effect you may stop caring about the outcome. Jack Reacher Reacher is a former US military cop. A hard man who can handle himself. The sort of bloke that you want as a friend and not an enemy. After leaving the army following a downsizing period he has become a drifter unable to settle in any one place or form attachments ...

Advantages: Gripping novel Disadvantages: Need to read the early ones
Lee Child main literary creation is Jack Reacher a former military policeman who after leaving the service has led a nomadic life drifting around the United States getting into various situations which have ended up with him using his experience in he military and his ability to inflict pain on those who get in his way.
When he intervenes on behalf of a restaurant owner who is being extorted for protection money he does not realise that his act ... ...in the murders of two female soldiers both of whom he had come into contact with while serving as they had made claims of sexual harrassment aginst officers which he had investigated. Proving that he has an alibi and cannot possibly be the killer he still becomes involved in the investigation against his will.
I do enjoy the Reacher novels especially if I just want something lowbrow to read and this book is a very competent thriller with a nice ...
