The first thing I have to say about this is that it is nice looking. It has a designer feel to it, heavy glass jug, brushed steel casing, lights up blue when its on ( my son wanted to leave it plugged ... ...I think its just a waste of electricity).
We have made some nice fruit smoothies with it and it has novelty value but in all honesty, unless you are a regular smoothie drinker, it doesnt do anything that I cant do with appliances I already own, such as my food processor and the ice maker / crusher on my American fridge. So yes its nice and does what it claims to do but I didnt REALLY need it.

Two design flaws that I feel needs to be highlighted are the tap on the front, great feature in theory but on the first few uses we didnt notice that it has a design that allows food to get trapped in there, despite a hot dishwasher cycle, and when we examined more closely there was green mould growing in there, after a few weeks of not being used, so it needs meticulous cleaning and dont trust the dishwasher to do the job.
Also the base of the jug has a rubber washer / gasket and if it gets twisted as you screw the jug in place the liquid will come out of the bottom and pour down the sides whilst in use, making an unecessary mess.
Advantages: Ice crushing, lots of features, innovative dispensing nozzle Disadvantages: Needless glowing front, difficult to clean
...in a new blender. This Russell Hobbs blender certainly does the trick, and then some. It's powered by a 600W motor, can handle 1.7 litres of whatever you're going to throw in there, has 3 different blending functions, and an ice crush selector for those hot summer afternoons, and includes a variety of recipes to get you on your way. It also has a handy little nozzle on the side for easy dispensing of your smoothies/milkshakes. However, another mind-boggling ... ...in use. Quite what this is intended for eludes me, maybe its for late night parties or something so you look cool, but it's a feature that serves no purpose.
All in all, it does everything you need from a blender, and its only £14.99 at the moment, so at that price, it's an absolute steal. ...

Quick review of Russell 13617
I personally found the usage of this sophisticated and modern smoothie maker very convenient. No longer will there be a need to go out and buy expensive overpriced smoothie drinks with this russell hobbs model at hand. What i also found was how easy it was to clean the equpment after use. At an average but fair price of £24.85 including postage and packaging you cant go wrong. ...
