Advantages: Ice crushing, lots of features, innovative dispensing nozzle Disadvantages: Needless glowing front, difficult to clean
...Summer is on its way now, and the craze at the moment seems to be milkshakes blended with ice, cool fruit smoothies and various other drinks, and so its probably time to invest in a new blender. This RussellHobbs blender certainly does the trick, and then some. It's powered by a 600W motor, can handle 1.7 litres of whatever you're going to throw in there, has 3 different blending functions, and an ice crush selector for those hot summer afternoons, and includes a variety of recipes to get you on your way. It also has a handy little nozzle on the side for easy dispensing of your smoothies/milkshakes. However, another mind-boggling feature is the glowing front panel that glows blue when in use. Quite what this is intended for eludes me, maybe its for late night parties or something so you look cool, but it's a feature that serves...

Advantages: Easy tp use, ice crushing facility, Disadvantages: None I have found
...I have been wanting a smoothie making machine for ages, everyone that I know has got one and swears by them and every day at work some of the girls that I lunch with come in with their home made smoothies to get them through the morning to lunch time. So I decided it was about time I caught up with the times and purchased one for myself.
I purchased the RussellHobbs Yawye Smoothie Maker because it primarily looked uncomplicated. It seems smoothie making machines come in all different shapes and sizes and their ease of use is also quite widely spread between never understanding it and very easy and I opted for very easy.
In looks this smoothie maker looks like a blender and essentially that is what a smoothie maker is, a glorified blending machine except it is a smoothie maker. The base contains those little non-slip pads...

Advantages: Tap to pour drinks straight into glass Disadvantages: Tap is flimsy, not versatile enough
...I now have two blenders in my kitchen - the first one is a RussellHobbs that I purchased from Tesco for about £20. It's a normal blender with pulse and continuous settings, it's robust and can blend everything including smoothies and dry ingredients. It's chrome, looks good and does the job. But enough of that...
The second blender - The New York Smoothie Maker - was a present from my girlfriend at christmas. It has the same settings, it's chrome as well(!) and, well, that's it. The main selling point of this blender is the tap which allows you to pour your freshly blended drink into a glass or jug, sorry pitcher - I mean it is a "New York" smoothie maker. However, the tap is a flimsy plastic attachment at the bottom of the jug. It doesn't sit at the bottom either so you can't get all your smoothie out. If you like your smoothie a bit...
