They are designed to break so you buy another one and then another one and then another one, all the plastic kettle makers in on the scam. Nothing is made to last these days, the makers of white goods at the top of that particular pile, zero cash in warranties on kitchen equipment that doesn't touch the floor. Don't buy one! My husband purchased this kettle 2 years ago and yesterday it went into the bin so it seems a good time to review how we found the kettle over the past 2 years. I generally find that kettle have a short life span, so I tend not to splash out on swanky expensive ones and normally go for basic kettles. My current kettle is the Russell Hobbs 14440 which I bought for £23 from amazon. The Russell Hobbs 14440 kettle is made from plastic and has a white body with a grey handle and top. The handle is not closed and has space at the bottom which makes it easy to slide your hand underneath whne lifting it.
