...I only chose the Russell Hobbs Oval steamer because of the Price. I paid £24.99 two years ago. Some others were very pricey, and didn't really do much extra. But you only want it to steam food Right?? When I first started using it, I was unsure as to how long certain foods needed to be left before they were cooked. ...20 to 30 minutes, and a whole chicken 60 to 70 minutes. I can say that these times are just about right. Personally, I like my vegetables not to have too much crunch in them, so I normally put them on for 25 minutes plus. I did actually try a whole chicken. It was a medium chicken and it took less than 1 hour (60 minutes). This was a revelation. The chicken was far more moist than any chicken I have ever cooked. I would definately recommend this ... My father recently purchased this steamer for use at tea times as i have a large family. From the first dy it has made making tea a much easier task as several different vegetables have been able to be cooked simultaneously and not in several pans like before.
