. . OK Ciao, this is my second attempt at writing this review, my last 400 & odd words have just vanished, thanks Ciao.

My policy covers social domestic & pleasure, with full no claims bonus, (protected) and legal protection. The legal protection cost an extra £20 which I thought was a little on the expensive side.
New for Old??? Surely not! Oh yes, the policy really is a new for old one. If your vehicle is stolen and not recovered, or is damaged and the cost of the repair is more than 60% of the manufacturers list price, then Saga will replace your vehicle with a brand new one. This applies if your car is less than two years old, and has done less than 12.000 miles.
One good piece of cover is for radios etc. Cover is free and completely unlimited for all audio/visual and/or communication equipment (as long as it is permanently fitted in the vehicle)
Personal belongings cover, these are covered up to a maximum of £1000 - BUT in December it rises to £2000 for gifts bought or received.
In the event of you needing a car while yours is being repaired, as long as you use their approved repairers, you will have the use of a courtesy car, however you only get it for two weeks.
If you are venturing into western Europe, you are fully covered, and if going further than the EU you will receive a green card free of charge. You also have to option of breakdown cover, this starts at jus £32.
My no claims bonus is protected, and I am allowed two claims in five years (Glass does not apply).
In the event of an medical emergency, the car is covered while being driven by anyone with a licence, so long as you are in the vehicle. The car is also covered for any driver while being driven to your home, AFTER a medical or motoring emergency. There is a personal helpline for any problems you have relating to motoring matters, this is 24 hours a day, and is manned by a team of experts and solicitors. The service is free, and any advice can be confirmed in writing if requested.
Trailer cover, any trailer or caravan you tow is covered, but must be in accordance with all legal regulations with regard to towing.
Payment. You may set up a direct debit, pay by credit or debit card, Visa Mastercard, Maestro or whatever, however, if you want to pop a cheque in the post, it will cost you an extra £3 for "administration fees" You would also lose the 20% discount for signing up online.
Excesses:- The excess for a fire & theft claim is £100, it rises to £200 if the damage is accidental, windscreen replacement will set you back £75, however if the screen can be repaired, then you won't have to pay any excess.
All in all, I would advise giving the website a look, there is some good advice on ther, and get a free quote while you are there. You do not need to be over 50 to apply by the way, but your quote may be more expensive.

You have all seen the saga adverts you know the one with the older lady on holiday being driven around in a classic american car, the implication is that if you buy thier car insurance you will be able to afford a better holiday.
WELL DON'T BELEIVE IT Even though I am not over 50 my husband is so when we saw this advert we thought great there is a main stream company that will insure our cars we own a 1977 Chevrolet Blazer and a 1981 Ford F250 pickup.
... ...I decided to write to Saga and ask them why they use a classic american vehicle in thier advert if they do not insure them and I felt they should train thier call center staff to be deciidedly more polite, this I did, it took them nearly 3 weeks to answer me but eventually we got a standard form letter telling us that we had to write to a certain department so yet again I sat at my computer and wrote another letter detailing all that had happened ...

...the service she received from Saga was appalling. They are making her pay her policy excess even though it wasn't her fault and are being very slow sorting things out to the point that they act like they don't care. My Mum is on a very limited income and having to pay the excess to them has caused her monetary problems and she also has no faith in Saga that they will even get her excess back for her. They are causing her endless worry at a time of ...

Quick review of SAGA
I have been trying for eight months to have a simple home insurance claim settled.I have met with nothing but prevarication and incompetence and in spite of Saga Insurance admitting their poor service I have received neither the offered compensation (which is quite derisory), nor had the work done.
My letters are either ignored or take weeks to be answered and all phone calls from them are sent "number withheld"
I am 74 years of age, live alone on a pension and find the whole experience quite stressful.I have had to involve the Financial Ombudsman in an attempt to get things resolved, and would advise anyone to avoid SAGA Insurance. ...

Advantages: Good value car insurance Disadvantages: Over 50 only
...In the end plumped for Saga which gave me the lowest premium but did advertise the largest discount!
Website easy to use .. entered all my details on one page and got a premium. It didn't ask a lot of unnecessary questions unlike some insurance comapnies I could mention. The cover also looked really good especially if you live near the coast like I do, offering free cover for driving in the EU for an unlimited period.
Definitely worth considering ...

Proton "launched for booking" its latest model, the new "SAGA" model, in late 2007. I was quite sceptical of the model as Proton's reputation at that time was not very rosy. Thus I decided to wait for the real car to arrive.
The car came to my local dealer mid 2008. Booked a test drive, and had to wait for a 2 weeks queu.
My first impression when entering the car on the driver's side was the seat is a la "real seat", not a la racing driver, prone postion. But it didn't feel too tall like an MPV or a SUV. There was also plenty of headroom.
The seat is height adjustable, as well as the back rest. These could be done easily via two easily reacheable levers. The seat covers felt soft and accomodating, without feeling too squishy. The steering height is also adjustable.
The test drive was was smooth, and all the controls felt in ...

Advantages: Speedy Response Disadvantages: Very Poor Customer Services - Very argumentative
I am a Member of Saga who currently use the AA for Breakdown Recovery. This is my 1st year with them - Not impressed. Although attendance was very rapid, the Patrolman failed to issue an attendance report even though I was parked in a car park - Non Compliance.
He recommended a local Garage which I later discovered charged double the cost of other Garages - Snapped wire to the alternator on a basic Ford Ka. Total cost £92.00!! I trusted the Patrolman to recommend a garage that would not take pecuniary advantage. The AA will argue that they have no control or contracts with garages but being a lone female with no knowledge of cars I can only assume the obvious.
When I complained to Saga they advised that I must take it up with the AA even though my membership is with Saga. Apparently Saga are the Brokers for The AA ...
