Advantages: Clear examples to support new concepts Disadvantages: Needed better proof-reading - many little mistakes!
Although I had previously done some programming in C, I bought this book mainly as a refresher, but also to learn some of the other functions the language has to offer.
Overall, the layout of the lessons is very good - the first week showing the basic skills needed tocreate a useful working program, and the other two weeks introducing more advanced programming techniques to supplement what had been learn previously. The CD that came with the book is also very good, with easy to follow instructions to set up the compiler.
I found the practical nature of the book most helpful - every time a new element was introduced, it was explained in text with some examples, then used within a program to show exactly how it is used within the language. In my mind, this made it much easier for me to understand new concepts.

We enjoyed looking at the photo gallery but we have not used the web link yet as I feel that my 3 year old is just slightly too young to understand it but I will test it out on my 6 year old during the school holidays in the hope of entertaining him for a short time!
MY OPINION
This is a great DVD for all Fireman Sam fans. The episodes are all new and the children will enjoy them. There is always a happy ending and this helps make the episodes enjoyable ...

Fireman Sam has been a favourite in our household for many years, I can?t say that I am a huge fan of the new Fireman Sam, I?m an old fashioned girl at heart, but I suppose it?s what the kids like that matters! This book is based on one of the stories from the S4C TV series and contains pictures from the episode.
This Fireman Sam story is published by Egmont and is a board book measuring 15.8 x 15.8 x 1.6 cm, which I find a little big for the smallest of hands to cope with! It has a lovely bright red cover with a picture of Fireman Sam holding Bella the cat in his arms on the front. It has a RRP of £3.99.
?Fireman Samto the Rescue? describes what happens when Bella?s beloved cat Rosa goes missing in a storm. James and Sarah find her with her collar caught on a fence and call the fire brigade who swiftly come to save the day.
