As someone who has a wealth of experience fitting loft ladders I found the Youngman 3 section aluminiumloft ladder to be my favourite. I have fitted many different types of aluminium loft ladders such as concertina and 2 section ladders. I fitted the Youngman 3 section ladder to my own house for the following reasons:
It was compact enough using up only 0.8m floor space when in a stowed position. The model I purchased had an adjustable handrail that extended well into the loft at its highest setting. This offers great security and stability for the user when getting back onto the ladder from inside loft.
In circumstances where the optimum handrail setting was restricted due to in-loft clearance the handrail also offered great security and grip when adjusted to the lower setting on the ladder.
My favorite features on the Youngman 3 section ladder:
1. Its locking mechanisms are very easily located at the foot of each section making the ladder easy to manipulate for its user. (In my experience most other aluminum loft ladders locks are located at the side of the ladder making them awkward to reach.)
2. I also favored the catch system located on the underside of the Youngman ladder which was easy to fit and kept the ladder from sliding back out of the loft, holding it firmly in position.
3. The pivot guide arm works exceptionally well considering its simple design and keeps the ladder very steady and alined when gliding in and out of the loft.
4. I liked the operating pole provided for opening the trap door and accessing the ladder and also the fittings provided for the trap door.
The only down side of this domestic use ladder is that It only allows a maximum duty ratng of 100kgs.
Recommendations: The duty rating could be increased to 150kgs to allow for a wider target market.
I could write more on this ladder and how much I favoured it over all other aluminium loft ladders especially from a fitting and user point of view.

Welcome to Ciao. Super 1st review. We could do with one of these, but we would have to change our loft hatch as it is currently the type you just push up on the board and move it to the side.
