Advantages: Lots of information, extremely clear and helpful
Disadvantages: Over-explains and doesn't motivate or inspire

The Mature Student?s Study Guide is straightforward and does exactly what it says on the tin: it?s designed to help people returning to education ? whether it?s after a gap of 5 years or 50. The advice is fairy basic, but covers everything: the idea is to use the Study Guide as a starting point before referring to other books to tackle any problem areas. It is designed for both attending a college or university and distance learning, although the content applies more to degree courses. The first chapters are only mildly helpful. Review of The Mature Student's Study Guide - Catherine Dawson

Excellent books for Exam Success

Advantages: Interesting, bullet points, good diagrams
Disadvantages: Not in colour, some parts not detailed enough

Revision can be really dull sometimes. There's nothing worse than having a huge pile of notes or a thick textbook and not knowing where to start with revision. Having two A-level exams and some AS level re-sits in January, I need something that will keep me on task as well as enable me to learn all the material required. That's where these books come in. I have four of them: 2 AS and 2 A2 (Biology and Chemistry.) The AS books each have three modules notes and each A2 have 2 modules notes. I found these books in the library at school but they only had the chemistry ones. I decided I would buy the biology ones so I have my own copies and while I was purchasing them I thought I might as well get the chemistry ones too. *Advantages* The books are really good. Review of Heinemann A-level Revision Guides - Heinemann Exam Success

Exam Success!

Advantages: You get the grades you deserve
Disadvantages: It can be tedious

weeks before and having to cram loads into one revision session. Exam technique - it is important that you have good exam technique as this is an important aspect of doing well (especially at A-level). A good way to gain exam technique is to do lots of past exam papers in the lead up to the exams. ~ F~ Fun - make sure you have time for yourself. I know exams are important but it it's just as important to enjoy yourself. Set aside time for friends or another hobby and as long as you study in the time allocated for that you could enjoy yourself (guilt free) when your free time comes. Friends - If your friends are studying the same subjects as you why not study together? I found it really helpful to discuss things with my friends, as it is more informal than talking a teacher and you can share your knowledge. Also, if there are ...
