For those of you who have to get out the old megadrive just to play some of those old classics, those days are now over! Available on PSP and PS2 the sega mega drive collection proves just how popular and fun a good retro game can be!
A little advert like, I know - but these games excite me and I love the idea that after nearly 20 years these games are still extremely popular - and 28 games packed onto a UMD is enough to keep you busy from London to New York (believe me, ive done it with this!)
Alex Kidd In The Enchanted Castle Altered Beast Bonanza Bros. Columns Comix Zone Decap Attach starring Chuck D. Head Ecco the Dolphin Ecco II: The Tides of Time Ecco Jr. Kid Chameleon Flicky Gain Ground Golden Axe Golden Axe II Golden Axe III Phantasy Star II Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millenium Ristar Shadow Dancer: The Secret of Shinobi Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master Sonic The Hedgehog Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Super Thunder Blade Sword of Vermilion VectorMan VectorMan 2 Virtua Fighter 2
As you can see, there are some greats on there, everyone remembers the old golden axe and shinobi, BUT WHERE IS STREETS OF RAGE AND DESERT STRIKE!!!!! Two fantastic games, forgotton at the mercy of the need to put all the sequels to other games on here such as Golden axe 2 and 3 and Phantasy Star 2, 3 and 4... two other, different and arguably better games sacrificed in place of sequeled games which arent better than their originals...
But when playing the game, you can see which games have stood the test of time, and which ones look completely rubbish and have aged pretty bad...!
Definitely worth the money, you can pick one up for about £15 so theres no point keeping an eye out for a bargain, its cheap enough already! And I would defintely say is better than the midway arcade treasures albeit a couple of the games on there... (ecco jr *cough* zzzzzz....)
But anyway, definetly something for a retro fan... this is just a quick review - to give you an overview - there are so many games on there you wont be bored, and its great to play on a long journey; so with that I shall bid you farewell and hope you found this helpful...!

Good stuff - I've got this for the PS2 and am enjoying it, though as you mentioned, the lack of Streets Of Rage (and Wonderboy, Shining Force and Virtua Racing) is a big blow. Desert Strike isn't on it because its not SEGA's game - it's on EA Replay for the PSP though I seem to remember :) tom

Sorry for the lower rating, I thought you could say a bit more about this compilation, like the genres this compilation covers, which games you kept coming back to, the games you did not enjoy etc.

Advantages: Emulated perfectly, some of the megadrives best games, good interface, excellent save feature Disadvantages: No streets of rage, some extras dissapoint
Advantages: Cheap price, Variety of games, plenty of extras Disadvantages: Limited multiplayer, not recommended to people who favour graphics over gameplay.
