Sigma EX DG 70-200mm f2.8 HSM Macro

Advantages: Build quality. Finish. Range. Fast maximum aperture.
Disadvantages: Image quality not as good as expected. Chromatic Aberration.

-size reproduction, this lens doesn't! Although both the previous and latest models of this lens focus to a highly respectable 100cm (1 metre), this does not provide 1 to 1 life-size reproduction, merely 1 to 3.5 at 200mm focal length. I do wish all manufacturers would be a little more 'honest' in their description of their product's specifications? This lens has a large maximum aperture of f/2.8 which remains consistent throughout the zoom range and is fully compatible with the Sigma EX 1.4x or 2x APO Tele Converters, both of which maintain full AF (auto focus) facilities. The lens features Sigma's HSM (Hypersonic Motor) AF and is fast, accurate and very quiet. Construction is a combination of metal and high quality plastics, along with a fair amount of large pieces of glass. Light it isn't but considering the specification and the fact that it has ...

Sigma 10-20mm - pro quality at amateur price

Advantages: excellent image quality, sturdy build, great price
Disadvantages: relatively slow aperture, slight softness in mid-range of zoom.

The Sigma 10-20mm EX lens is a low-to-mid priced lens, aimed at the amateur/enthusiast market and available in the usual Canon and Nikon mounts. I own the Canon-fit, so all information contained in this review is in relation to that lens. For anyone interested in landscape photography, a wide-angle lens is a must-have piece of equipment. With standard kit lenses generally weighing in at the 18mm range at their widest zoom setting, you will be astonished at what the extra 10mm can provide you with. With this extra range of view, it's also an ideal lens for architectural photography and can make even small interiors appear almost cavernous at times. The lens itself is solidly-built, as you would expect given the pricetag and the Sigma EX badge - a mark of quality on Sigma's lens range - and the weight is satisfying. It may feel ...

Review of Sigma EX zoom lens - 10 mm - 20 mm

Sigma AF 70-300mm f4-f5.6 APO DG Macro

Advantages: Decent quality on a budget but only for APS-C digital SLR's.
Disadvantages: Really quite poor when used with full-frame digital SLR's.

of good quality. I don't know if it is simply a variation between samples but my own APO version appeared to have somewhat 'smoother' zooming than my friend's non APO one. As usual for Sigma, a decent lens hood (barrel type) and a soft case are included in the package. The lens sports a 58mm filter thread, so filters are relatively inexpensive to purchase. Being of more 'ordinary' status in the Sigma hierarchy, this AF 70-300mm f/4-f/5.6 DG APO Macro, has none of the more elaborate 'bells and whistles' evident on the more expensive EX range. What does this mean? Well, you don't get Sigma's superb HSM (Hypersonic Motor) AF (auto-focusing) for near silent and very fast AF, resulting in a somewhat more unsophisticated, noisy (although not overly so) and slightly 'harsh' action. It still works well however! Also, you get no FTM (full time manual ...
