A great first camera!

Advantages: Lots of controls for amateur to pro!
Disadvantages: Its film not digital!

I used to own the Canon EOS 3000V. Infact it was my first SLR. A great camera for a beginner to start with. Easy to use functions and certainly knocks out some great images. I learnt everything I know about photography with this camera. Costs alot of money if you\'re anything like me and enjoy taking hundreds of photographs. You will find that the quality and control you have with this camera you will happily snap away. This is certainly a great ...
...you start and you can even ease yourself into the other controls such as controls which let you set the shutter speed and it then automatically sets your aperture for you and vice versa. The battery life on the camera is amazing. You forget that its battery powered after a while. You find you don't replace batteries for months. Even with constant use. It has a LCD Screen on the back to show you the focus spots, the shutter speed and aperture settings ...

Wonderful, but not for really for beginners

Advantages: Accurate eye controlled focusing, Accurate metering, Well specified
Disadvantages: Reliant on 2CR5 batteries

...in general these give very disappointing results, so it’s not a great hardship. One thing to look out for is that Canon sometimes run special offers. A couple years ago, if you bought this camera, you could claim a free flashgun or booster, both of which are worth £250. ...

Canon EOS 300 X

Advantages: Easy to use, both automatic and manual
Disadvantages: need to use a tripod on manual settings

This is a great camera and fairly cheap for the amount you actually recieve Im studying a level black and white photography i found this camera very useful as you can use it on automatic settings or manual settings so it is ideal for both begineers and advanced photographers Easy to use extremely durable to all conditions if you use the camera on manual settings it needs to be kept as still as possible as do most cameras i would suggest using a ...

...pro photographer that posess the canon eos mk 3 and the canon eos 400d as a general back up.The canon eos 50e will take pride of place in my equipment arsenal as a film camera. I have had this camera for several years and some of my work from this has been exhibited.I like the overall design, ease of use and the robust feel.It has travelled extensively also with me. I agree with the other reviews that the battery grip is a must as it really gives ...
...which i like.Dont use cheap batteries as they dont work which i found out while in Norway.Invest in a good medium sized camera bag for this camera with the battery grip. I rarely have used the built in flash and i never use the auto features with exception of the eye control calibration, ive always used this camera as manual as possible with good results. The large dial wheel at back of the camera is very convenient when selecting the shutter speed ...

Good Advanced Amateur Camera

Advantages: Full Photographic Control, Eye-Controlled Focus
Disadvantages: Can't use IR films

he Canon EOS 50E QD is a retro-style 35mm single-lens reflex (SLR) camera. I purchased mine in January 1999 and have had great results. This camera supports all EOS lenses and has the standard EOS command dial that offers users a choice of shooting modes. For beginners, this camera offers fully automatic, portrait, landscape, macro and sport modes. In these modes, the camera chooses the best combination of aperature and shutter. For more advanced ...
...bought it to replace my Canon T70 that I used for about 10 years. I had been very happy with my Canon manual focus camera, so when I wanted to switch I looked at Canon first. The main reason for the switch was that I needed auto focus since my eyesight is deteriorating. The 3-point eye controlled focus really helps. I was able to easily callibrate it to work with both my specticles as well as my contact lenses. In terms of reliability, I have had ...
