pentax k1000- beginners luck
Advantages: creative possibilities, durability and pricing Disadvantages: replacement of old parts would be pricey
...are well aquainted with the Pentax K1000 as it has been used as a value for money SLR for many years now. The choice of schools and Universities to buy this camera, alone emphasises its reliability and ease of use for a beginner. For those who have surpassed the beginners' stage, this camera provides an excellent and very compatible base for extras to be added. For instance larger lenses can be added which will magnify and allow greater scope for ... ...joy of having an old Pentax K1000 SLR is the complete control you have over everything in this camera. From changing the aperture to over expose or under expose to changing the shutter speed which can keep the shutter open fo longer allowing moving objects to be snapped in motion! From changing the depth of field, or toggling with infra-red views, to taking multiple exposures by forcing the film to stay put whilst you take photos one on top of the ...

I was a bit deceived
Advantages: see text! Disadvantages: colours, flash
...had used until then (a Pentax P30): it had accompanied me from my beginnings in this world (if the Polaroid and children machines are excluded), helping me to learn and with results always very good. That is to say that went for another Pentax (this is called fidelity to a brand)
I looked at the market offer (between my budget,) in specialized stores, big chains, Internet... I made myself this way an idea of the prices (of all the makes and models, ... ...was not recommended a Pentax but a Canon, but like I am stubborn person I went on and I bought myself this Pentax MZ-50. I got it by Dixon (there were in sales during that time). And the places where you can inform yourself better, to see, to play and to prove are usually the most expensive, but nobody prevents you to get the information in that way although then you don't buy there. Inside the range I was interested, this was the one that had the ...

Sexy Black and Beautiful
Advantages: Ease of use Disadvantages: No depth of field preview
...to be introduced in the Pentax Z series of SLR cameras to be supplied fitted with a power zoom lens. Originally costing around the £450 mark when first introduced in 1994 it can now be picked up for as little as £180.
The camera when new was matched against the Canon EOS 500 and the Minolta 5xi, where it faired rather badly in the specialist press. This was rather unfair as neither could complete in terms of specification. What really upset the ... ...any of the multitude of Pentax lens can be made to fit, with the universal k mount lenses fitting straight on. All of the lenses that I have used, and these are many, are optically excellent and there are a multitude to be picked up very cheaply.
The camera was designed for ease of use and Pentax really did well here, even a child could use it with good results. It has five programs which are self explanatory

A great introduction to SLR photography
Advantages: Simple to learn and use, Excellent Quality Images, Manual control settings Disadvantages: Perhaps a little too light, not compatible with some lenses, not for professionals!
...the job, she borrowed my Pentax MZ-5N. The results were breathtaking, and as a result she caught the bug - seeing the clear advantages of SLR over instant pocket cameras - such as better quality optics, interchangeble lenses with a much broader range of wide angle & zoom-in, and the ability to look into the viewfinder, and see exactly what the film will be exposed to. As such, for her birthday, I thought I would get her a simple, but quality SLR ... ...get her a Pentax also. There were many reasons for this; I've been using Pentax products since I was 13, and have never had a single fault with any of their cameras. I've also found their optics to be supremely well constructed, resulting in quality images, and enlargements that don't blur or lose focus at the corners. The other key reason for getting her a Pentax was so that she could use my collection of lenses and accessories. As a newcomer to ...

An excellent entry-level camera
Advantages: Excellent quality of build, Easy to use modes, Lots of potential accessorising/lenses Disadvantages: Autofocus, heavy weight camera
...I opted to purchase the Pentax MZ-7 a few years ago. I knew little of photography but was persuaded to purchase the MZ-7 for a variety of reasons.
The MZ-7 has any different picture modes, such as: Green Operation, Close-up, Action, Portrait and Landscape which may be selected manually depending on the picture being taken. Alternatively, the MZ-7 has the Smart Picture mode, which automatically determines the necessary mode of focus. This of course ... ...familiarise oneself with the functions of the camera. However, once the photgrapher is a little more experience he can begin to manually determine apeture priority and shutter priority or command full manual operation if desired. One of the attractive features for the MZ-7 which influenced my purchase was the 30 - 1/2000 sec shutter speed that could easily capture action shots, which was particularly beneficial for taking pictures of sporting events.
