interactiveboards). However, if you are looking for a teaching job ? one thing you will want to consider is what teaching tools will be available to you. I have worked with both types of board and would much prefer to work in a school with SMARTboards opposed to Prometheans. The reasons for this I will explain in a minute. Due to the fact that the technical ins and outs are not really going to be of much use to anyone in this review, I will first explain what the board is and then explore the advantages and pitfalls.

What is a SMARTboard?
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
SMARTboards have existed since 1991 when the first ever interactive whiteboard was created, and today they are the leading brand. The SMARTboard is a touch sensitive board, which is displayed on a wall (looking similar to the old school ...
Advantages: Easy to use, robust Disadvantages: Not as accurate as pen based and heavy
First of all, an introduction to my relationship with this product. I commissioned the purchase of twelve of them to go to twelve different schools. At the time we were looking for an interactive whiteboard that came in at £1000 or as near as possible. This board then did exactly that. On to the details.
INTRODUCTION
For those that don't know an interactive whiteboard is a clever piece of kit that allows a user at the front of an audience or class to interact with information on the screen being projected there by a computer. At it's most simple it records everything written on the screen with normal pens to a sketchpad, allows programs to be opened, closed and manipulated, and increasingly comes with a handwriting recognition piece of software. These are gaining popularity in schools and I think have a definite place in such ...
Advantages: Original, nice looking, sturdy Disadvantages: Limited range of games
screen. It really is excellent, and makes the DS worth the money. It is accurate, generally easy to control and the screen doesn't scratch permanently (you do get temporary scratches, but these rub off easily). There is a handy holder for the stylus on the side so it'll be quite difficult to lose it. There is also a D-Pad and four buttons for non-touchscreen games, which are clear and easy to use.
Another control is the microphone - I have only used this for 'blowing' games, not 'talking' games, however my experience of it is negative. It doesn't work, and you'll give yourself a nasty headache trying to blow into it anyway.
-Extras-
The range of extras are things like an alarm, a Wi-Fi chatroom and a customisable profile. You can also change the colour of the start-up screen to suit your tastes. These extras are neat, but nothing to ...

Manufacturer's product description
DViT (Digital Vision Touch) technology uses digital cameras to track objects interacting with the display surface. The SMART Board interactive display frame consists of four corner blocks and four frame sections that attach to your display, transforming it into an interactive screen. Install the interactive display frame after you install your display panel on a wall or floor stand.Contact between a finger and the display panel is interpreted as a mouse click, enabling you to perform normal computer operations. Direct contact with the screen ensures there is no parallax or image distortion. The pencil communicates with the interactive display frame. Contact between the tip of the pencil and the display panel produces digital ink on the screen, and contact between the opposite end of the pencil and the display panel erases digital ink. You don't have to return the pencil to the pencil ledge between writing and erasing. This product is designed for 50" plasma panels.
