I have worked with both types of board and would much prefer to work in a school with SMARTboards opposed to Prometheans. The reasons for this I will explain in a minute. time you come to use it, you will have to re-orientate the board. To do this you have to touch the centre of the spot located on the board so that the board knows where to click when you touch. Another downside is that there is no right click.
OTHER STUFF-
I can imagine these screens being good if you had DVD-ROM on your computer because then you could watch a film in a true cinema style!!!
It costs at least £1500!!! (Not cheap!) And apparently it is easy to install once you have bought a projector!!
OVERALL-
I would recommend this mainly to businesses and secondary schools but not just as a toy! The only real downside is that they cost around £2000 by the time you have bought the cables, Smartboard and projector.
