~~~~~THE STATE V STEVEN AITCHISON~~~~~~
Prosecutor: M'Lord this is an open and shut case. The defendant has admitted guilt in this terrible crime and therefore should be punished harshly and swiftly. Not only has he admitted to watching SMTV Live, but he also enjoys watching it.
Me: Sorry, yes I would your honour. The gallery eyes me slowly as I walk around in front of the Judge and stroke my chin, pondering my next move. Tell the truth, tell the truth says the little voice inside my head.
Your Honour SMTV Live is not what you think it is. Granted it is a children's television programme, but it is so much more than this. It is entertaining, thought provoking, funny, and a whole lot more.
~~~somebody just peed themselves laughing and has now been ejected from the courtroom~~~
If your honour would allow me some leeway I can proceed to explain. Ant & Dec, formerly from Byker Grove fame and also had their own successful pop career in a band called mmmm PJ & Duncan, well not so successful. These cheeky chappies from 'why aye man, Geordieland' are funny in a wacky sort of way. Their sense of humour and rapport they build up with their audience and the viewers who call in every week is infectious. I often find myself chuckling away to some of their stupid antics, reminds me of days gone by when I was a little lad. The duo are joined by Cat Deely who tends to keep the asylum sane in her mature approach to calm the boys. however sometimes she does lose it herself.
The show itself is jam packed with special guests, TV Shows, cartoons and wild and wacky sketches. I will briefly explain these just now, as a way of pleading my case.
CHUMS: By far the most popular of the sketches is 'C.H.U.M.S', their very own version of friends, only with a little less money spent on sets and scripts. This part of the show gets the whole cast of the show involved as well as all their special guests for that week. they have a terrible script to work from and terrible plot lines which make it very funny to watch. The fact that it is live makes it all the more funnier when one of them does foul up. Ant and Cat try and get a snog from each other every other week and are always so nearly there when somebody interrupts them.
SPLATOON see Ant & Dec dressed in their RAF flying outfits and aims to help a viewer net some prizes. The aim of this is to blindfold one of the special guests, this week was Lee Evans, and to get him to burst some balloons by calling out splat every time the target lands over a balloon. This happens twice in the show and the guest with the highest score wins the prizes and they are great prizes.
CHALLENGE ANT: this is possibly my favourite part of the show. this is when a member of the audience has to ask Ant 10 topical questions. If Ant is wrong then the viewer wins a playstation game for every one answered by Ant incorrectly. At the end of this, the contestant is offered the chance to gamble all of their games for a bigger prize with the 'killer question'. Ant is bit boyish if he wins and throws it in the face of the contestant, but it is all in good fun, if he loses he has to wear the dunces cap.
WONKEY DONKEY: with that catchy little tune that gets stuck in your head and it cannot be ejected for love nor money. This is where viewers call in and have to guess a catchphrase that has been made from a stuffed donkey. Ant & Dec are at their best and they get to slag off some of the viewers which again is all in jest and is quite funny to watch.
Your honour, as if this was not enough they also have 'Sabrina - the teenage witch' an American sitcom type show. They also have special guest stars on every week and a phone in where viewers get to put questions to their idols. Cartoons are also in the show for the younger viewers.
As I said earlier it is entertaining, funny, not so thought provoking. It is the best tonic on a Saturday morning when one is hungover from Friday night. you don't have to think about it, you can watch, laugh, burp, fart, to your hearts content. Is it childish humour, of course it is but there is no harm in that. I would also say in my defense that I am not the only person who enjoys it, but in a recent viewers poll survey at the comedy awards it was voted top show.
Judge Han Gem: Thank you Mr Aitchison for your moving speech on the pleasures of your sin. You may have convinced me, therefore I pass sentence that you have to write a review every 3 days for Ciao.com and that is letting you off lightly. I hope I never have see your face again in my courtroom.
Me: Cheers mate, now can I borrow that wig and robe of yours as my girlfriend likes me to get dressed up?
Advantages: lots of fun and sillyness Disadvantages: sometimes a little over the top, but not often
...have the tough choice of SMTV live Or the BBC’s poor second best live and kicking.
So why is SMTV live the clear winner, well its presenters is the clear answer. Ant and Dec. remember then the canny Geordies from that less than appealing programme Biker Grove.
Cat Deeley makes up the threesome, a former model and TV presenter, she fits in perfectly.
Now Ant and Dec are far too good just for the kids. Their humour is extremely funny, dry, ... ...quality.
So what’s on SMTV then….
A blend of music, guests, competitions and more. But the best in my opinion is:
CHUMS
This is the threesomes take off of the Friends series, even using a version of the song as its theme tune, based in the flat, it always revolves round Cat and Dec and their attempts to get together, with of course hilarious interruptions from Ant, and a host of stars. In fact most guests get involved in this part ...

Advantages: When it ends Disadvantages: All the presenters and the flat jokes
I was just browsing this site when I cam across one of the 'top 5' ratings on the left hand side. In this case, Top 5 childrens Programmes. Sitting at the top was SM:TV Live. Now I sometimes watch SM:TV Live in bed, because I am very lazy and don't have the strength to pick up the remote control - that and I used to quite enjoy the programme.
I say, I used too.
Now SM:TV Live has undergone some critical changes in the past year or so, so I am here ... ...The show started of in 1997 on ITV, hoping to cash in on the Saturday morning slot dominated by Live & Kicking for many years. Since CITV was being well and truely beaten by CBBC, the outlook perhaps wasn't so great. Indeed there was little build up to the show.
Despite this three presenters, Cat Deely from MTV, as well as the notoriously Jordie's Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnaly - or Ant and Dec to you and me - were signd up to front the show.
...

Advantages: It is full of laughs and fun I feel great after watching it well I try to Disadvantages: Sometimes to early for a Saturday morning
There I was sitting on a Saturday morning at 9:25 watching television thinking what can I do my next review on. Yes up that early thinking about ciao. I was watching the usual Saturday morning show that I always have and that is SM:TV Live. That’s when I came up with my next review. After feeling a little sick seeing the little custard man getting splatted I continued with my quest to inform the nation.
The show is hosted by the famous trio ... ...one Saturday morning show with an estimated audience of around 9 million compared to Live & Kicking of around about 8 million, I think it is still called L & K? SM:TV is on Channel 3 and L & K is BBC 1.
The fantastic trio takes it young Saturday morning viewers and it’s not so young like me! On a whirl wind roller coaster ride of fun and laughs for a whole 2 hours. The show is unlike many Saturday morning shows, which are full of cartoons ...

Advantages: Great show Disadvantages: They are leaving
If you have ever woke up on a Saturday morning with a killer hangover, there is a cure. The cure comes in the form of 2 Jordies and a Brummie and a host of Adult innuendos, cleverly disguised in a childrens entertainment programme. That is the best way I can describe the mischevious antic of Mr Ant McPartlan, Mr Declan Connelly and Miss Cat Deeley. Although there are 3 of them, the 2 lads really steal the show with their comedy and wit. Where are ... ...first appeared modelling in Lads mags a few years back .She must have been young at the time. I do think she cope swith the boys well and is a good presenter. Ant and Dec come from Biker Grove fame. It was a programme for kids set in Newcastle and they were the stars during the 1990's. They played 2 lads, PJ and Duncan. Poor PJ got shot Paintballing in the programme and lost his sight. He regained it enough to have a mediocre rapping career with ...

Advantages: Impressive Disadvantages: There'll be people wanting to shoot them down (verbally)
The first opportunity to hear the famous five give us a true live example of their 'talents' arose this morning on SM:tvLive/CD:uk when Hear'say were finally giving the daunting task of singing, not miming (a la Channel 5's Pepsi network chart show) to a group of fandom craving youngsters.
Did they 'have a voice like an Angel' or did they sound like the cat stuck in the blender on puree?
Unfortunatly (comedy wise) the weren't really that bad and definatly held their own against most of the other teenbopper bands out there today. At least we kind of know these five people who are making music with the hearts on stardom, let's wish 'em the best. ...

I love this show!! It definetly knocks all competition right out of the park, presented in a lively way by Geordie favourites Ant and Dec, and newcomer Cat Deeley, this music show is unmissable entertainment. The studio is great and makes watching even the worst acts enjoyable. The atmosphere of the show is fun and lively as well as informative. It often includes interviews with some of pops biggest stars, and awesome prizes are given away each week. It appeals to both young adults, and children/teenagers as its shown straight after SMTVlive (superior saturday morning kids show) and is repeated in the early hours of the morning. With shows like these who needs boring oldies like Top of the pops? - not me. Catch it on ITV on a saturday morning or the repeat in the early hours. Great stuff. ...

Advantages: Brilliant television presenters! Disadvantages: None really!
I think SMTV:live is one of the most well presented saturday morning television programme to date. Viewers of live and kicking are starting to tune into SMTV:live, because it is simply far better, and funnier, than live and kicking at the moment.
The presenters are great, and really wake you up on a saturday morning. Ant and Dec have established themselves as good, quality television presenters. Cat Deeley, the other presenter, has also shot to fame, with presenting the show. To wrap it up i think that this programme, must be one of the best Saturday morning television programmes to date. This is a very good watch! ...
