Review of Rebel Without a Crew - Robert Rodriguez by Soho_Black

Advantages: A fascinating insight into film making
Disadvantages: Very hard to find

...Robert Rodriguez is very much a film maker on the up and has been for a number of years. In 2005, following the release of his film "Sin City"; he was ranked as one of Hollywood's 50 most powerful people by Premiere magazine. In fact, Robert Rodriguez has done so much, having written and directed a number of very successful films, including his "Mariachi" trilogy and the "Spy Kids" trilogy and directed "From Dusk Til Dawn"; it seems strange to think he has only really been on the scene for less than fifteen years and is still only in his 30s. But life wasn't always so good and so successful for Rodriguez. In 1991, he was thinking about getting into college to study films and contemplating his first attempt at making a feature film having had some success, if only in his own home town, with some of his short films. Whilst Rodriguez... Read review

It's no K-PAX but it holds it's own
Review of K - Pax II - Gene Brewer by chrisfisher01

Advantages: After K-Pax you just have to read it.
Disadvantages: not as good as the first one

...After reading K-PAX I just had to buy the sequel. K-PAX II: On a Beam of Light is the story of prot's (rhymes with goat) return to earth. Dr. Brewer has published his K-PAX book and five years to the day after prot left, he has returned. This news travels fast and prot becomes famous with everyone wanting to go back to K-PAX with him. While prot enjoys his 15 minutes of fame Dr. Brewer is trying to get at the reason Robert has been catatonic. Although I would have given this book 5 stars if I had read it before K- PAX it is just not as compelling as the original book. Without giving too much away, the first book left questions, was he really from K-PAX or is he delusional the second almost tells you through Dr. Brewer, which one it is. An excellent book and well worth a read but don't expect that hypnotic trance like state you were... Read review
