Advantages: Everything Disadvantages: £10 for the newsletter, but nothing this good could be free
...I initially visited sharelineuk.co.uk after reading a review on a certain other opinion website. There was only one opinion and the author sounded very impressed.
Sharelineuk.co.uk is owned by the Halpin Group and was launched in February 2000. Their aim is to provide tips, news and information on all of the shares that they believe will gain in value. Examples of their top tips from last year as listed on the website are,
April 1999 - Amstrad, which went from 50p to 450p
November 1999 - Gladstone, which went from 9p to 60p
November 1999 - Knowledge Man, which went from 150p to 1350p

Advantages: has an easy to remember, and spell, name Disadvantages: everything else you associate with a bank
...I just wanted to pay some money into a friends bank account, which was foolishly opened with the Co-op, or the toy bank as it is dis-affectionately known.
There are almost no branches of Co-op bank, this makes it insanely difficult to pay into one. Upon reading the co-op bank website however, I found that you could pay in through a post office. Off I went, wodge of cash in hand along with an account number and a sort code.
Nope, apparently only the *owner* of the bank account can pay into it, with a proper paying in printed slip out of the chequeue book.
Unless of course, I used a cheque, whwn I could pay in and not be the owner of the account. This is just taking the p**s.

Advantages: cheap, online makes life simple Disadvantages: none
...Having used British Gas and Seeboard for my gas and electricity suppliers, I have recently switched to Amerada. This switch is going to save me over £100/year on my bill (around 15-20%).
Before choosing Amerada as my 'dual fuel' supplier, I used a link through 'http://www.iii.co.uk/finances/?type=buy' to check what the cheapest options were. Amerada came top for both suppliers so it was an easy choice to make.
Note that Amerada prices may only be the best if you pay by monthly direct debit (there is a £4/transaction for cash or cheques) and have no paper bills (online billing). If you wish to have paper bills the price goes up a little bit; the same goes for payment by a different method. For the electricity supply, an Economy 7 tariff is available (approx. 6p/kwH day; 2p/kwH night) which is an excellent option for those that have...
