Yes, if you enjoy a 'traditional' detective story. In this case, 'S' is for 'simple', although by no means a cinch when it comes to guessing the outcome. This is a commendable example of what can be achieved by an intuitive detective with only a set of index cards and a battered portable typewriter at her disposal. Set in the '80s, there are no whizz-kids with computer and DNA know-how at Kinsey Millhone's ... ...you prefer fast-paced, heart-thumping excitement this probably isn't for you. However, I too enjoy thrillers and edge-of-my-seat stuff, yet I still found this story quite enjoyable even if it did gallop up to the home straight only to wander around a bit at the final fence. This book is worth a read, but don't expect the reassuringly familiar Kinsey. You might even like the different approach Sue Grafton has used with this latest alphabet book.
