Advantages Performance, quality, great seats, value for money
Disadvantages Not up to BMW standards of ride, handling and refinement
I had never owned a Saab, and intended buying a BMW 5-Series when I swapped my car (from a Merc E300D) in March 2000. What changed my mind? I decided to buy abroad and found I could get much better discounts with much shorter lead times on Saabs than BMWs (or Mercs or Audis).
I saved £8,500 on the best price my local dealer would give me for a 9-5 Aero Estate and the car was ready in 6 weeks. Check out the price of options - some, notably heated seats, are only a fraction of UK prices.Discounts are more readily available in the UK now, but you can still save a good few thousand pounds by buying in Sweden.
