The Sabichi 73044 is ok if you are doing small quantities of cut up fruits for a smoothie, however blending vegetables and fish for my baby's puree did present a problem. Even though it was preboiled. The unit became hot , presumably it was the motor strugling, and I had to take out the vegetables and cut in smaller pieces, while mixing with hot water in order to blend the puree . Its easy to handwash though, being only a few seperate components that are completely incased makes cleaning easy. I don't own a dishwasher, so I can't say how easy it will clean in one but again the business part of the blender can be detached and will easaly fit in to the cutlery rack in the dishwasher
