Its a pleasing jar, there are parts of the jar written in Italian. This i think helps the consumer decide for authenticity, and that it is prepared in Italy. It looks authentic.
The price, you do pay a bit more than other brands, but I would expect a higher quality product in return. The whole jar was £1.99 for 420g.

COOKING WITH IT
It smelt lovely when I first open it! I never just have pasta and a sauce, i always put some minced beef or pork to add protein. The sauce had a good consistency when pouring into the pan, and wasn't too runny or too thick. As it "sizzled" on the hob the chilli aromas started to infuse and flavour the rest of the food!(Taken by regular sampling throughout cooking!!)
The roasted pepper version smells just as nice, very tomatoey but nit as oppressive as chilli can be!
I prepared some tagliatelle as directed and then combined the two for 2 minutes. The sauce coated the pasta well and kept its consistency. I had 2 hungry bellies impatient to try this masterpiece...!!!
THE VERDICT
A sweet tomato flavour followed by a comfortable chilli after taste which was very nice actually with the minced beef. Within the sauce it was well seasoned with salt and herbs so needed little and no input from the cooking. I like black pepper with chilli so i added this to it. Personally, I really enjoyed it, the ingredients were excellent, and I like the extra cherry tomatoes for sweetness to counter balance the chilli. Its a very healthy sauce, so good for all the family, all the tomatoey goodness and chilli can help help cleanse the blood. Depending on the size of your family, a whole jar can comfortably feed 4 hungry mouths and half a jar, 2 people with pasta and the meat together.
The roasted pepper version, was much sweeter, and there were chunks of pepper in it. Still as tasty, tho! The consistency was a little chunkier though, due to the extra vegetables! If you have kids, or any family member who don't like chilli, or are sensitive to it,m then the roasted pepper version is a winner.
Both are delicious! At £1.99 it is a good addition to any kitchen and it really is worth it and is excellent value.
On the packaging, they make serving suggestions of cooking the sauce with Pancetta and seafood aswell as beef. I really like the seafood idea, with clams and shrimp maybe. As a shopper, these ideas say to me, that this product has versatility and can be used creatively to make tasty meals. AS a recently retired student, i will probably be able to afford this regularly, the month I get my first proper pay check!!
I really enjoyed the product, and I can be put of by products with chilli! I have days that I like it and days I don't. Good health wise too for those a bit weight concious. The pepper option is kiddie friendly too!
Remember to eat at least 5 portions of fruit and veg a day!
Thanks for reading, I would appreciate any comments! Naomi x
