    I picked this book up at the airport just before getting on a long haul flight, along with a couple of others. I knew nothing about the author, nor much about the story, but I liked the cover (different on my edition than the one shown here) and the look of the length. I'm a fast reader and I manage to demolish books very quickly so always tend to look out for chunky material rather than flimsy stuff. Being 950-odd pages long then didn't put me off, and I happily settled into it during the end of July. We're now mid-September and I only finished it this week, so it's turned out to be ... more
