Sadler's Wells Theatre

I want to be a ballerina and wear whooshy dresses and dance on my pointes and glide around like a magical fairy princess. I want all the little girls to want to grow up to be just like me and all the big girls to want to be me… Off I would glide into the air on the shoulders of a muscular bloke in spandex and then I would twirl and twist and tilt and twirl some more. Most famous as a ballet venue, this theatre also hosts a broad range of theatre, and musical events (Japanese Kabuki, Cirque Éloize, various tribal drum groups, a musical of The Twits etc). However, I have only seen ballets here, from several touring companies. This is my favourite venue to see dance acts, because the venue doesn't overshadow the perofrmance. Located near Angel Islington they are a little out of the centre, but only a short, well sign-posted walk from the tube, or a short bus ride from Oxford Street. Sadler's Wells is an impressive venue. The architecture of the building is modern but not cold. I love the glass front that allows you to see into the main atrium of the hall. Even though the architecture of the building is impressive, that's not why you go to Sadler's Wells. This is an excellent performance hall and a wonderful place to go to enjoy a show. When I have gone to Sadler's Wells it has always been for a dance performance. I am always impressed with the groups that come to perform at Sadler's Wells.
