The Rep arrived on time but immediatley rubbed us up the wrong way. He was over familiar asked personal questions and gave me a sales talk that was so obviously a load a rubbish that I felt that he was insulting my intelligence. When I complained about the Rep and told him that I had not seen a window nor had he measured up the caller seemed genuinley astonished and apologised profusley. He asked if I would be prepared to give them another chance and I reluctantly agreed.
We were in the process of having the house rewired when we had a door to door salesman call about double glazing. He asked if he could make an apointment for a salesman to call to give us a quote to renew the windows. I had always resisted the idea of changing the windows but as the house would need completely re-decorating after the rewire I thought it would be a good time to at least get a price.
I had heard a lot of horror stories about double glazing companies but after years of painting Georgean style metal Crittall windows and French doors and the fact that they were now letting , draughts in and heat out; I decided to give it a try. I had heard the amounts that it had cost others and the fact that I wanted 13 windows (15 actualiy as the two bay windows counted as two frames each) plus a set of French doors and a new front and side door I was expecting it to be out of my price range but nevertheless I arranged a visit from the Safestyle UK Rep.
The Rep arrived on time but immediatley rubbed us up the wrong way. He was over familiar asked personal questions and gave me a sales talk that was so obviously a load a rubbish that I felt that he was insulting my intelligence. He did not show me the product nor did he measure up. When I said that I would not under any circumstances buy on the day he could not wait to get out. He asked me if I still would not buy if he gave me a price of £5000 for the whole house. I said put it in writing and I would think about it. He then said he would send me the quote and quickly left. He had still not measured anything and had not shown me a window.
I thought that I had heard the last of Safestyle UK but two days later I had a phone call from the Bradford office asking what I had thought of the windows. When I complained about the Rep and told him that I had not seen a window nor had he measured up the caller seemed genuinley astonished and apologised profusley. He asked if I would be prepared to give them another chance and I reluctantly agreed.
The second visit was totally different. The rep showed me the two different grades of window and explained the difference between them, he measured up thoroughly and then sat down to work out a price. He said that the £5000 quote given by the previous rep was too small but he would do the lower grade windows and the doors for £5400. I asked about the top grade Diamond windows which had the energy saving Pilkinton K argon filled glass. At first he came up with a price of £8700 for the whole house and although I thought that this was a very good price for fifteen widows a set of French Doors a Front door and a side door I told him I would think about it and let him know. He asked me why I kneeded to think about it as it was a very good price. I said I did not hand over money without checking on the company and other customers. He then said that the only money that was required was the £80 survey fee and the balance did not have to be paid untill the work was complete and when I was totally satisfied. He then dropped the price to £7200 and went out for a ciggarette while we thought about it. He also agreed that if any scaffolding was found to be required this was included in the price.
As I liked the quallity of the windows and doors and the price was half of what I had been expecting I was tempted, The fact that I did not have to pay anything untill the work was completed and to my satisfaction I decided to go ahead and I agreed to the sale. I wrote a cheque for £80 for the survey fee and was then given a date for the survey and a provisional day for fitting. The surveyor arived on time and measured everything thoroughly and left. A few days later Safestyle phoned and offered to fit the windows a few days earlier than the provisional date, I agreed and nervously waited for the fitters to arrive.
The stated day arrived and the fitters turned up about 10.30am after a 90min journey from Newbury Berks, They did not want any tea or coffee and immediately started work, They worked non stop untill 6.30pm but due the old metal windows being hard to remove they were a bit behind. Although they workrd for Safestyle they had been given a time of two days to complete. They arrived the next day and it soon became obvious that they had no chance of completing that day but never the less they worked on untill nearly 7pm. I was impressed that although behind with their time no corners were cut and everything was done to the letter just as it should have been. They arrived on the third day still with a good bit to do and finally finished at 6.30pm. They showed me all around and explained how all the locks worked and went through a checklist, they then phoned their office and the manager made sure I was happy with everything. Only then did I have to write a cheque for the amount quoted..
I am extremley happy with the quality of the windows and doors and with the workmanship, They cleared and removed all the old windows and rubble and they did not damage any tiles or decorations whatsoever. The widows and doors come with a ten year guarentee and I had a follow up call a week later to make sure I was still happy.
One word of caution, neither the salesman nor the surveyor mentioned that you are expected to re-route any telephone wires or cables that have been fitted through the window or door frames prior to the widows being fitted, I had a telephone wire running through the door frame but the offer of a small drink to the fitters and they got round it without any problems.
All in all I nearly didnt go with Safestyle because of the first salesman but was extremley glad that I gave them a second chance. I feel that I have got a good product at a very good price and with very good workmanship. You do get the hard sell, as you do from all salesmen of this type, but if you stick to your guns you will end up with a great price.
Advantages: National Company, Employ own fitters, Offer flexible finance Disadvantages: That advert with Ken Morley, That advert with Cannon and Ball

Having used Safestyle some 6 years ago to have our large (11 ft x 8 ft front and 3 ft x 8 ft sides) square bay window and front and back doors replaced, and having had some problems with the door installation back then, we were unsure whether to use them again. However, the 7 windows that we required were getting dangerous and were in danger of falling out so we got some quotes, and decided that the product had improved dramatically ... ...didn’t put us off using Safestyle again. Although it took from 14th March 2004 to 14th July 2004 to get the product fitted, that included problems with getting the credit, due to problems with credit in the past, and unless you have had credit problems in the past, you won’t have the wait we did. They actually aim to fit all orders within a month, and the fitting date we were originally given was 15th April 2004.

...black spring to mind).
Safestyle had been missing me on the phone, then one day they got me. I got the spiel "We think there was a problem with your quote, we have had complaints about the salesman giving too high quotes. Why don't we send a manager round to give you a better quote". I played along and accepted. I liked the quality of the windows and they don't need any money upfront, so I had decided to go for it if he would do it for £3.5k. (Original ... ...my best quote of £3.5k and asked if he would match it. After the obligatory "i have to call my manager" rouse, he agreed. I booked a survey, paid the £60 and they came as agreed (well they were 30 mins late but phoned to apologise & check it was OK). I was given a lead time of about 6 weeks, which was OK for me.
A few weeks later, I get a call saying can they fit them next week. great I thought, I had the money waiting and was getting sick of being ...

Advantages: Quick to get them installed, reasonable prices Disadvantages: Poor Customer Service / Fittings / Problems
Safestyle UK are a recognised UK window company which is bonded to FENSA and governing body for window and glass companies.
The company has its head office based in Bradford, West Yorkshire and has an endless supply of promotions and advertisement, with various offers such as buy one and get one free, buy downstairs and get upstairs free and also get a massive 55% off.
The decision was a long and painful one, we had many companies round to give ... ...issues were bought up with Safestyle UK who used various small prints to bypass any way of apologising and to return and repair anything.
However, in some way to their defense all of the windows were installed ok and have not had any further issues. But to take up problems with their head office will be a battle. We eventually some payment back as a 'gesture of goodwill' and an agreed date to repair the faulty door.
Its head office address is:

Advantages: none unless you like the 'bogof' mad salesman on tv. Disadvantages: very tricky to deal with
...had a bad experience with Safestyle uk. I consider in hindsight that I had a lucky escape.
We had decided to get some quotes for new windows and doors etc. In spite of the fact that I detest the madman who does their tv adverts spitting 'ya buy 1 ya get 1 free' etc and I had always promised myself I would not buy from his firm, I asked for a quote.
They rang me the same evening and arranged for the rep to call the next morning. He was very polite ... ...better. The same price as safestyle but with windows we wanted, not picked for cheapness by the rep! We signed with Diamondseal.
I telephoned and notified safestyle of my wish to cancel. They said I could not cancel as I had invited the rep to my house and signed an order. I had no 'cooling off' period.I told them what the rep had said about 7 days to change my mind. They said as he had not written this on the order I had no choice but to go ahead ...

I recently had my windows replaced with SAFESTYLEUK and all I can say was I am so glad I had them done now. I did have a problem with a fixed date with them but once that was settled everything went well. two men done all the work they were friendly and very clean. The only problem I had was one of the workers didn't finish until 7pm so I couldn't see the final product til the next morning. I had a problem with the outside sealing which was not done to my satisfaction so I phoned SAFESTYLEUK and they came back to finish the job almost instantly. I would definetly recommend them to anyone. Brilliant job well done very professional. I had 7 window and a front door replaced at a total cost of £4700 this includes a discount of 60%. I will be paying for this with a loan of £5000. The company offered two types of windows I went for the more ...
