Safestyle UK are a recognised UK window company which is bonded to FENSA and governing body for window and glass companies.
The company has its head office based in Bradford, West Yorkshire and has an endless supply of promotions and advertisement, with various offers such as buy one and get one free, buy downstairs and get upstairs free and also get a massive 55% off.
The decision was a long and painful one, we had many companies round to give quotes and all including Safestyle UK used the same tactics, gave you the highest possible price after which they would bring down.
Eventually we agreed on a price with Safetsyle UK at £3200 which included our
five windows, front door, and french doors at the rear and fitting.
We agreed this price was acceptable compared to most other quotes that would not go below £5000. We also took into account that it was a large UK company other than a local one.
The installation date was less than two weeks from our agreed purchase which was fantastic. They made the windows and paperwork was sent to and from our house and completed in this time.
If you dont have all the money you have the choice to take out a monthly payment option from GE Capital, of which we opted for. The service from GE Capital was fantastic who sent a letter saying that we sign and complete the payment form to Safetyle UK only if we are happy with the work.
The installation team arrived with everything and began to start work straight away. We got a call from Safetsyle UK making sure they had turned up and at what time. As work began the old frames were being whacked out with considerable force and thrown to the ground. At the rear of our house we have decking so I didnt appreciate throwing old frames all over it from that height and chipping the wood!
I held my ground and looked forward to the final product which was done quickly.
The installation team knocked out our window in the kitchen, and had seen the telephone (main) wire but continued to knock the frame out. It was only apparent that the connection was lost by the force they used because my partner was on the internet at the time!
I immediatley called my telephone company who could not get anyone out for 4 days (want to take a guess who?). So the fitters tryed to fix it! they cut the whole wire and left the exposed telephone wires hanging in my kitchen when they realised they could not fix it!
I ended paying £135 for the telephone wire to be fixed but small print of a leaflet before installation states that wires are your responsibiltiy! But surely they have to hold some responsibilty for knowing the wire was there and that they tryed to fix it themseleves. No I dont think so...
After they left we looked at the work, which seemed ok. The rear door had trouble locking but this was apparently due to the heat which expanded the door and the new seals around the door.
We dont know anything about windows and doors so took his word for it. The door eventually began to drop leaving a gap between the frame and the door.
We went on holiday shortly after and the door was opened by a family member and the door would not lock at all! As we were away a new lock had to be fitted otherwise the house would have to be left vunerable to burglary.
All the issues were bought up with Safestyle UK who used various small prints to bypass any way of apologising and to return and repair anything.
However, in some way to their defense all of the windows were installed ok and have not had any further issues. But to take up problems with their head office will be a battle. We eventually some payment back as a 'gesture of goodwill' and an agreed date to repair the faulty door.
