Then I came across the Safety 1st bath seat in the Tesco Direct catalogue and ordered it for £9.46, plus £5.00 delivery charge. It was delivered to my door within a day or two without any problems.
The seat comes in a not too large recyclable cardboard box and the seat is set up and all ready to go (except for the small toy on the front which takes about 30 seconds to clip on).
The seat is all blue and made solely from tough plastic. It has a toy feature on the front. The toy looks like 3 coloured teething rings. The seat has sides all around so the child cannot fall out or slip under. It also encourages the child to sit up in the bath themselves and to enjoy and be confident in the bath.
The seat is secured to the bottom of the bath by 3 large suckers. Just push the seat down and it is impossible for the seat to tip over or even be removed from the bath. The only way to remove the seat from the bath is to gently pull on a little tab which is attached to each sucker - such a quick, simple and easy action but the seat wouldn't budge without it. There's no doubt about it, it's super safe.
The seat was great for me because I could sit next to the bath without having to support her and watch her every move. I could just wait with her whilst she played with her toys and had a splash around. It also gave me the oppourtunity to enjoy bath times with her, rather than it just being a chore. As she started to realise she was safe in the bath her confidence in the water really grew and she began to love baths.
The toy on the front of the seat is good for chewing on - most babies using the seat will be teething at the time. The seat also rotates 360 degrees. My child used it from around 6 months to 12 months.
The only downsides to this seat is that it's not padded and is made of plastic alone. There were a couple of occasions when her bum slipped foward and the plastic bar which went inbetween her legs got a little too close for comfort and she would panic abit. I can emagine this is probably slightly more painful for little boys :/
Overall an invaluble piece of baby bathing equipment that I would recommend to everybody. I feel it's total value for money but would have liked the seat to have been padded (otherwise I would have given it 5 stars instead of 4).
Advantages: Cheap, compact, allows baby to sit up straight Disadvantages: Pointless toy, suckers not strong
...our next investment was the Safety 1st Swivel Bath Seat. '''What is it??''' The seat is blue and sturdy with suckers on the base and a coloured toy on the front. My son has never played with the toy, and in my opinion is very boring. The seat also swivels round so this is a plus for nosy babies! The seat is circular and smooth so no risk of accidents. '''Price''' This bath seat is a lot cheaper than other seats on the market aimed at 6 months +. ... ...found to be very cheap so full marks for pricing. I got it at this price from Babies R us - which is situated inside Toys R us, or online. '''Advantages''' Because your baby will be in a fully upright position, its possible to have the water quite deep so your baby can have a good splash around. There is also room for a 2nd person in the bath as the seat is very small and compact and remains at one end of the bath. If your baby isn't at the standing ...

Advantages: It stops baby from slipping underwater during bathtime. Disadvantages: The bar in between a boys legs could be pretty uncomfortable.
...in our bath.
The safety first bath seat is blue with a swivel base and toys for your child to play with across the front of it. There is a bar which goes downwards to the base of the seat and the child sits inside with their legs at either side. My son absolutely hates baths and I found that this bar could be very uncomfortable for him as he goes as stiff as a board when you put him in water, therefore hurting himself because his delicate parts ... ...whole bathing experience even more distressing for both parent and child.
There is a strong suction cup which holds the seat onto the bath to prevent it slipping around all over the place. This bath seat is a very good idea but to be honest we did not use it a great deal because we thought it was impractical for our son. What we do now, especially since he has been standing up for quite sometime, is fill the bath with a few inches of water, stand ...

Advantages: A safe way to bath baby, Swivel base, Sturdy design, Fun for baby Disadvantages: Toy is boring, can be uncomfortable until baby can sit properly
...to help us. The Safety First Baby Bath Seat fitted the criteria and so we bought it. I think the price was around £9.99 which I thought was reasonable. The seat is blue and sturdy with strong suckers on the base and a coloured toy on the front that our daughter noticed once and then has since ignored so 0/10 for the toy! The seat also swivels round presumably so that the baby can reach toys but this has never been used and infact has a lock device ... ...everything is nicely rounded.
At first our daughter was about 5 months old and she did seem to slouch in the seat. She was kept upright by the bar at the front which could be uncomfortable particularly for boys, but we kept sitting her upright so this wasn't a problem, although she did come out of the bath with a red patch on her back where she'd been leaning. She likes the fact that she can splash and reach her toys. I like it that she won't slip ...

Advantages: Baby feels safe, good name you can trust Disadvantages: Toy is boring, no choice in designs
...Why did I choose a Safety 1st Bath Seat?
It is a name I trust as I already had a Angelcare baby monitor from them - I swear by this, it help detect breathing movement, or lack off as well as being a normal sound monitor. They make hundreds of baby products and I have only heard good feedback about them. Am pretty sure they are the largest manufacturers of baby bath seats in the World. I have to have a name I can trust as although I would never ever ... ...not your babies! For extra safety it has a textured bottom so it won't slip.
It is shaped for a babies bottom and back to rest gently in it too so your little one is comfortable and snug.
I found it easier to get Kayleigh in and out of it when she was little as opposed to being a fighty, head strong 14 month! There is a nice leg gap for you to put their legs through but as you will know from getting them in and out of highchairs, pushchairs etc ...

Advantages: cheap, swivel seat, cross bar Disadvantages: cross bar could be painful, hard plastic
...stock - it was the Safety 1st bath seat. It cost us £9.99 and in my opinion has been a very good buy.
Our seat is bright blue plastic with three different coloured 'toys' on the front. These 'toys' are merely round pieces of plastic which can be turned round and round by baby. My son does this but doesn't even notice he's doing it, as it's hardly noticeable or eye-catching. There is a crossbar at the front of the seat which prevents the baby from ... ...necessary to wrap a pieces of cloth round this to prevent my son from hurting himself (or more to the point to protect his chances of becoming a father later in life).
There are three suckers that stick to the base of the bath to prevent it from slipping and so far (after 5 months of use) are working well. The other key point about this seat is that it can be swiveled round. Neither my husband nor myself ever use this function so I've no idea useful ...
