I recently purchased this self-training package from the Register (delivered within 3 days as versus 6 weeks from Amazon) for £34 and found it a useful starter guide to Sage. It is a combination of workbooks and CD Rom. The CD Rom gives you 90 days of a training version of Sage accounts and comes preloaded with data for you to practise with.

For those who are not familiar with Sage, it is a basic book keeping package for small business owners in particular. It has a number of modules which allow you to track transactions (sales), payments and banking details. It also allows you to track VAT and calculate VAT payments.

The self training package is aimed at people like me who have little or no experience with Sage. The workbooks are simply written and very easy to follow. They take you through most of the basics of sage, including how to install Sage to your computer, set up company details, create invoices, create customer data and how to perform transactions.

The only disappointing factor for me, is that not all aspects of sage are covered (for example, I would have liked some guidance in setting up staff information to track payroll, NI and PAYE details). I did manage to find out this information through a friend.

I will definitely keep the workbooks as a handy reference to Sage.

Your review really needs more information - what is Sage for a start! Imagine you are writing for someone with no knowledge of the product. Information about who it is aimed at, price etc would also be useful. Have a look at some other reviews of software to get a better idea of what is needed in a review, and you'll soon get the hang of it! MaryX
