Advantages: small, stylish, value, quick changing channels, attractive interface Disadvantages: Not as easy to install as other top boxes, lacks top up tv
The price of set top freeview boxes has decreased over the past 12 months, and technology has improved. However the quality of budget freeboxes vary, and it important to ensure that you have one of high quality for many reasons. The quality of your set top box will determine the usuability and how many channels you can receive.
I bought the SagemITD62 4 months ago and have been very pleased with it since. Bought for just £49.99, the SagemITD62 is one of the cheap freeview boxes on the market but does not subsidise on quality. First impressions out of the box are good. It is well packaged and features the set top box itself, mains plug, manual, and scart. Let me say that again.. Scart!! A lot of digi boxes are not containing scarts to save on manufacturing costs but the SagemITD62 does, saving you anything upto £20!

Advantages: A really cheap digibox Disadvantages: the channel update feature needs redesigned
The SagemITD62 is an attractive Freeview box and works very well considering its low price The EPG is very basic but very easy to use and it turns on and off quite quickly It's also well biult from toughened plastic, and comes with dual SCART sockets.
However, the update channel function should be updated in the next firmware. Every time it detects new channels are available, it interrupts your TV watching and insists you download the new list of channels. This feature can't be turned off or ignored so you have to download the list or it just keeps asking you to download the channels. Furthermore, it overwrites you favourites list unless you exit after every update.
Overall the digibox is very cheap and worth buying ...

Advantages: Cheap, does what it says it can do Disadvantages: Limited functionality
just required the simplest and cheapest of options I chose the SagemITD58G from Argos at the then very reasonable price of just £26.99.
►►► What do you get in the box
Before I get onto the contents, I have to say I am quite impressed with the amount of packaging, as although it comes in the usual cardboard box with polystyrene inserts and a plastic bag around the SagemITD58G, they have kept the size to a minimum, cutting down on the amount of wastage. Once you have unpacked the ITD58G, a first time user maybe a little disappointed as although you get the ITD58G, a remote control (with 2 batteries) and a user guide, you do not get any other cables, such as a Scart lead or standard RF lead. Fortunately, having already had a Freeview box, I had already got the necessary leads but sympathise with anyone who purchases ...
