    4 Stars IT'S A GEM! Review with images 04/03/2005

Advantages Advantages Good budget buy, all necessary functions

Disadvantages Disadvantages Quite fiddly, may not be upmarket enough for some!

It’s finally happened. I’ve given in, I’ve succumbed. I have always hated mobile phones and seeing and hearing people use them but now I’ve got one. Sorry to let down any fellow mobile-haters but an emergency situation led to me making the agonising decision to get one. Why?! Well, a few weeks ago I had my landline phone and broadband internet access cut-off when I was unable to pay an overdue bill. I called Customer Services (the only number I could still ring) to explain my mobility difficulties and my reliance, particularly, on my internet access for communication and virtually everything ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Screen too dark when not in use

Sometimes you come across a very generous person who, despite their own circumstances, gives you an unexpected present for no apparent reason. Well this has happened to my youngest daughter when one of her friends Mums bought her a mobile phone – I was astounded and actually shaking when she gave it to me!!! The phone is a Sagem myx-2 and was £25 from Currys. It is locked into the Orange Pay As You Go network. Now this, to me who has a Nokia 3310, is a very small phone – around 5 inches long and an inch and a half wide. It has a colour screen that is just over an inch square. It does fit ... more

4 Stars Cheap 'n' Cheerful Review with images 15/09/2003

Advantages Advantages Cheap, looks cool, has a speakerphone, small & lightweight

Disadvantages Disadvantages Buttons can be fiddly, only one (unexciting) game, instruction manual is erroneous in places, interface could be better

I have been looking for a new phone for a few months now, after my Motorola T191 gave up the ghost. I took a look at the offerings from the Motorola end, since I know their phones generally to be of high quality. The V60 looked good, but I wanted to expand my horizons. The Samsung T100 was tempting, but too expensive. Then, I saw the Sagem MYX-5 and MYG-5. The Sony Ericsson T310 looked good, but I wanted something a tad cheaper. While looking at Sagem websites, I stumbled across the MYX-2. It looked nice, was selling cheaply and had an excellent battery life. “Great,” I thought. As I looked ... more

    Advantages Advantages Cheap, neat, compact.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not much else.

I swore off mobile phones a year ago, believing that I was cursed never to own one. Having my first one stolen in a burglary, being mugged for the second and having the third ruined by leaving it by an open window during a very heavy rain storm I thought I was doomed to never own the almost essential gadget of the modern day lifestyle. A year later and my circle of friends had dwindled considerably, no texting to catch up on snippets of gossip, the large phonebook gone and no easy way to get in touch left me feeling that maybe I was being too harsh on the mobile and so with 50 quid to spare I ... more

I will admit I purchased this phone as a panic buy. My previous phone continually cut out, and I needed a new one, on a low budget. The cheapest one I could find at that time was the Sagem My X-2 which was on sale at Argos for £34.99. I wasn't expecting much from the phone at that price, and I have had Sagem phones previously and although they were functional, were not always top of the range, so I wasn't exactly confident, but seeing as I needed a phone (how did we ever live without them?!), and this was the only one in my price range(it must have been rent week) I decided to go for it ... more
