Advantages filling for a light lunch

Disadvantages it's over all too soon

Another of my all too regular early morning visits to Sainsburys resulted in me making this soup my choice of lunch for today.

A few from the office were going to a local pub for lunch but after hearing one too many tale about hairs, caterpillars and other general nastiness being found on their plate I decided against it.

I opened the tin and poured my soup into my large mug-come-soup-bowl. It was lovely and thick with chunks of potato, carrot, chicken (yes, you could actually see and TELL it was chicken), onion and peas.

The vegetables were tasty. The carrots tasted like carrot, I thought they were nice and sweet and I love peas that have some guts to them in soups - not just a hint of pea skin to make you 'think' you've eaten one. The potatoes were the biggest chunks, I'd say they were just over a centimetre square so quite substantial for a tin of soup. The potatoes tasted of potato too - not a square of white nothing.

I warmed it up in the microvave for a few minutes until it was very hot, giving it a good stir every 20 seconds or so - it does say on the label not to boil it as this impairs the flavour.

The soup looked like thepicture on the label of the can surprisingly - this isn't something you find too often from my experience although I think they may have take out some of the liquid for the picture because it wasn't quite as full of pieces as the photograph.

I was very pleased with my selection and would definately recommend it and buy it again. What's more it was about 20p or so cheaper than the other well known 'big' soups and not any different that I could tell.

Maybe I've found one of those items labelled with the shop's own label but the same thing inside as the named brand can....

Tasty, filling and you could tell what you were eating. A success!!!
