Sainsbury's say they have 5 times the selection of an average video store, aim to send out dvds within 48 hours, make no charges for late returns, and request no commitment from members.

Over the Christmas break, fed up with the usual repeats on the telly, I looked online to see what dvd rental trials were on offer. My eldest son has tried, and continued to subscribe to Tesco dvd rentals. I came across Sainsbury's Dvd rentals, with a free 30 days trial, this is more than double the free trials offered by Tesco and Blockbuster.
I followed the simple instructions for joining, gave my email address, a password, plus a delivery address. I also had to leave a card number for future monthly charges, (even though I can cancel before the start of the subscription, ) this is to confirm that I am over 18. I chose about 20 titles from over 44,500, these were picked from various sections under the headings, Top Directors, Fight Movies, Top 100 lists, Quick pics, etc. There are romances, dramas, horror, childrens, si-fi, rock concerts… the list goes on and on! I also typed in my favourite actors names and got a list of their available films, I looked at the ratings given in graph format, by previous viewers to help me decide which ones to choose, I finally queued them all in order of my chosen priority, then I sat back and waited!
Sainsbury's say they have 5 times the selection of an average video store, aim to send out dvds within 48 hours, make no charges for late returns, and request no commitment from members.
I watched the progress of my free trial online, as, along with my account section, is a discs queued section, showing queued, rented and rated tabs. The rented tab shows disks taken from my queued list, when they will be sent, or when they were shipped.
The following day 3 dvds from the top section of my list arrived, packaged in the 'Sainsbury' Orange envelopes, with disks in protective plastic wallets inside. I did not get the actual top 3 - but as near as possible. I was delighted. I watched one after lunch, and posted it in the free returns envelope at 4.30pm in the afternoon. The next morning it showed on the site as being received. (I could have kept it for as long as I wanted, but wished to test the return time.)
As soon as disks are returned, they go into the rated tab, and if you wish you can write a review, or personalise the ratings from 1 (unwatchable!) to 7 (a masterpiece!) On a disk being returned, another disk is automatically sent out from your queued list. Postage is free 1st class both ways, and the self seal/ reusable envelopes used are provided to make it very simple. No need to fill in any form or write anything anywhere.
The price for regular subscriptions is:
1 disk, 14 days free trial, £7.97 per month 2 disks, 14 days free trial, £11.47 per month 3 disks, 30 days free trial, £13.97 per month 4 disks, 14 days free trial, £19.99 per month
There are also packages, ideal for gifts, for 3-12 month periods, offering discounted prices, plus benefits for members introducing new paying members.
The Account tab has areas for storing given personal details, which you can update. This includes, e mail address, password to the site, delivery address, and card details - which are hidden from view for security reasons. There is also a facility for changing membership details, (choosing to change membership levels) and freezing membership for up to 60 days, and then re-activating. You can if you wish, see the next billing date, so you can change or cancel before you are charged for another month. Cancelling instructions appear to be as simple as a local phone call.
So far I have enjoyed a variety of films and concerts on dvd. One film I received had slightly poorer quality, but there is a box to tick on the envelope to inform the distributors of damage, incorrect disks and whether a replacement is required.
One other thing that I find makes Sainsburys dvd rental better than Tesco dvd rental, is that they appear to send out dvds on Saturdays, whereas Tescos appear not to be operating at weekends. This means I will get more dvds over my free trial period! (My maths says a max of 36!)
I am really enjoying the benefits of this free dvd trial, its good for the dark gloomy days and winter nights, a glass of wine and I'm all set!
Advantages: Large Selection of titles, good prices, free trial Disadvantages: You don't always receive your first choices
INTRODUCTION
I joined Sainsbury's DVDrental service following a link in a freestuff site, being lured by their "free 30-day trial" offer. I haven't left them since although I must admit that I'm looking around for "free trials".
HOW IT WORKS
The process is quite straightforward: You sign up and order the films online, which are dispatched by first class mail. You receive and watch them (you are also allowed to keep them as long as you like - the more of course you keep them, the less movies you watch within each month of your subscription), Then you place the disc back in its pre-paid return envelope and post it back to them. As simple as that.
TARIFFS
As most major online DVDrental shops, Sainsbury's offer 4 packages: a) Unlimited 1 disc service for £7.97, b) Unlimited 2 discs service for £11.47, c) Unlimited 3 discs ...

~ Collecting Points through Nectar eStores ~
One of the best ways to collect points is through nectar eStores. If you do a lot of online shopping then this is a great way to rack up your nectar points as there are hundreds of shops that are available and you will collect 2 points per pound spent at them (apart from ebay and Amazon were it is 1 point). There are always offers on where some retailers offer double or triple points for a certain ...
