I have used Sainsbury's pet insurance for my dog for the last 5 1/2 years. I have made two claims. The first when my dog was aged 2 for a foot injury. The vets themselves filled in the claim form and Sainsubury's paid them direct. The vets were happy to see that my pet was insured by Sainsbury's. The second time was a couple of weeks ago and it was over 4 hundred pounds. I had to pay for the bill myself then claim the money back.
The main waiting time I had was the length of time the vets took to complete their part on the claim form which was nearly 2 weeks!!! I know this as I kept checking with Sainsbury's to see if and when they had received my claim form.
Sainsbury's received my claim on a Tuesday and when I arrived home the following Tuesday the cheque was on my doormat with a very nice letter in it too.

I have read that some people think their premiums are high. Well, if you worked it out on a weekly basis, then you will see that it isn't really, and I for one certainly feel my pet is worth every penny and it is worth it for the excellent service given by Sainsburys.
If you can find a cheaper insurance then great! but do make the effort to see how good the insurance and service is tjhat you will be getting. Vet bills are getting bigger and bigger nowadays and to have to foot the bill first and then have to wait for the insurance to pay out can seem a very long time.

Does this policy cover the animal year on year for the same condition, as this is now the best way to insure pets?
Many policies will exclude a condition at renewal so if your dog gets diabetes for example some policies will not cover this after the initial year or part thereof.
I know it is a pain to look into this, but my daughter is a vet and it is so important in her opinion and mine to try to buy a policy which does include this as standard.
It is why comparing policy costs can be misleading as some are different to others. It can be a costly mistake.
