Advantages Advantages Durable, effective and easy to use.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Could do with being a bit larger for using on domestic windows.

Review of Sainsbury's Synthetic Chamois The Product This is, as the name implies, a synthetic chamois, designed for car cleaning. Traditional chamois leathers cost the earth and as a strict vegetarian, I would not feel comfortable using one. I know I'm not eating it, but I would prefer to use something else. The problem is, there is nothing quite like a chamois leather for cleaning windows or car bodywork, in my opinion. I purchased this synthetic chamois two or three years ago from my local Sainsbury's supermarket, and it is still going strong. In appearance, the cloth looks and feels very ... more

Why I bought it: I like to keep my little old car looking as bright and shiny as I can, mainly to impress the opposite sex, you see but Mother also insists that our car looks good on Thursdays when I collect both her and the old crones and deliver them to their weekly Bridge club and then bring them back again afterwards. I’ve been through a lot of chamois leathers in my time but one of the better ones is the one I have recently bought from Sainsbury’s. It was only £4.95 but does a dammed fine job even tough it is a ‘faux’ one. I wasn’t able to afford another new one and my last one had been ... more

Advantages Advantages All the advantages of the chamois leather, but without the cost.

Disadvantages Disadvantages A little on the small size.

I like to keep my car clean, and one of the best ways to reproduce that 'showroom shine' you see on the TV adverts is with a wash and wax. It is important to select the correct products for the job, whether you choose a wash and wax system in one application, or whether you put in the hard work and wax it by hand after the wash. It is no use having the very best product for the job if you haven't got a good quality cloth to clean the car with. In the past I have used old t-shirts to apply the cleaning products, though if you are going to do it at all then it is well worth doing it properly ... more

A proper chamois leather is really expensive. I’ve had one before and in a new house move misplaced it! I saw this synthetic one at Sainsbury’s and decided that for the price, I’d give it a go. *Price and availability* The synthetic chamois leather is from Sainsbury’s and cost me £4.49. you can buy it in store or online. *Description* The synthetic cloth measures 43 cm x 32 cm. It looks exactly the same as a real chamois leather. It is beige and thick and feels really good quality. It does not rip or tear easily. *My experience* The cloth is hugely absorbent which is great as it takes loads of ... more

Using an excellent quality chamois leather is a an absolute necessity if I want to make my car shine and gleam. One of the better quality ones I have used is Sainsbury’s supermarket own brand chamois leather. Unusually, this isn’t actually authentic leather, but rather an imitation (or mock) leather but it actually works in exactly the same way as bona fide leather would work. Having used both authentic and mock chamois lather, I can state that there is little difference in the quality or effectiveness of this one from Sainsbury’s. The price is £4.99 and obviously costs considerably less than ... more
