Sainsburys White Petroleum Jelly

My son is toilet trained during the day, but is still in nappies during the night, and as a result recently ended up with a sore bottom, which i've put down to him not used to the wet feeling against his skin. So off I trot down to the Supermarket to buy him some Bum Cream, as he calls it. Surprisingly, there was a lot of choice in the baby section at Sainsbury's, all about the same price but varying in size. I went for the Petroleum Jelly, £2.79 for a 250g tub. I have used all sorts of nappy creams: expensive ones, amazing 'new' creams and many alternative products. Petroleum jelly from Sainburys ( and many other own brands ) is better than any, in my opinion, for day to day protection from wetness. It goes on smoothly, you only need a little for good and extensive coverage - a small price to pay is the need to wash your hands thoroughly to remove the residue. It does have a greasy feel, but this makes it waterproof on the baby's bottom for longer. I cannot tell the difference between this jelly and other, branded, products such as Vaseline. Other ... more
