Advantages Nice for a snack with fruit.

Disadvantages None.

I buy lots of different brands of natural yoghurt all the time, I find shops own brands quite good and they are good value for money in my opinion. I have been buying this brand for quite a while because it is so cheap to buy and it suits my budget and saves me a little money too.

It comes in a plastic tub with a pull off lid. It is very basic looking because it is the Basics range from Sainsbury’s. The usual colours of orange and white and nothing special to look at but that doesn’t really matter for the price.

It is fairly thick and has a really soft texture. It easily pours from the tub or can be spooned out of the tub if you want to eat it that way. The tub is quite a large one being 500g in size, quite a lot of yoghurt for the price of just 55p. It smells quite nice too and no nasty surprises when you first pull back the lid. It has a really nice consistency and isn’t runny like you may imagine.

I like to pour about half the tub into a dish and add my favourite fruit. It tastes really nice with fruit or just eaten without any fruit added. I do like the taste eaten both ways. It certainly doesn’t have a bland taste. It is a really nice tasty plain yoghurt. It doesn’t taste bitter or sour. When I first bought it, I did think it may be too bitter because it was so cheap to buy but I was certainly wrong. It also feels nice on the palette while eating it.

I love it eaten with a banana sliced and a few grapes cut into halves. The yoghurt and these fruits give for a really nice taste and the foods work really well together. My little grandson loves this yoghurt with blueberries or raspberries. It is a nice desert if he comes to visit me unexpected and stays for his dinner at my home. Sometimes I don’t always have a desert handy for him to eat and so I just reach for this yoghurt and just add which ever fruit I have at home at the time.

It is also a low fat yoghurt so is ideal if you are trying to lose a little weight or just eat more healthily. It is just a natural yoghurt with no other ingredients added to it.

For a quarter of the tub it contains 76 calories, 1.9g of fat of which saturates 1.1g and total sugars 8.8g. So not a lot of calories for a little snack.

It is a really filling yoghurt and especially more so when fruit is added to it. I like to sometimes add a tablespoon of lemon curd, give it a quick stir and then crush a couple of ginger biscuits and just sprinkle them over the top of the yoghurt. Eaten this way tastes absolutely delicious, it is really tasty but is moreish I must admit but if eaten as a desert it doesn’t contain too many calories. A full tub can easily feed 4 people eaten this way, unless like myself you go want to eat seconds lol. But these foods also work extremely well together and just a change to just eating it plain.

It is extremely good value for the money and very good quality. You just cannot go wrong with the taste of this one and also for the very cheap price.

For allergy sufferers it does contain milk and for anyone who has a nut allergy, it does tell me on the tub that it is not suitable for nut allergy sufferers due to the methods used in the manufacture of this yoghurt.
